Please explain how? As i dont see how Hopkins can handle Cleverlys workate, variety of punches coming from all angles plus Cleverly wont tire giving hopkins no time to rest. Hopkins can make it messy but still he`ll lose
I don't think this will be the most fan friendly fight but its a very interesting fight. Hard to pick a winner here and good arguments can be made for either guy. Cleverly's workrate will give Hopkins trouble and I'd expect him to be ahead early. But Hopkins is a master at slowing fights down and forcing people to fight his fight. Once the in-fighting and wrestling starts then Hopkins, even at 47, will do a number on Cleverly. I've only seen two fights of Cleverly's but I don't think he has the ability or experience to beat Hopkins once the fight is at Hopkin's pace. Hopkins by UD.
Hopkins schooling another young buck would be the perfect way for him to top off his crazy career. I'd love to see it happen.
People seem to forget Hopkins will be 48 when this fight happens and against Dawson he was too reliant on the overhand right, if Cleverly fights a calm fight using his speed from the outside he'll win a UD but if he tries to outwork Hopkins on the inside he'll get mauled.
If Clev carries on with those pitter-patter punches he might be in trouble early on, although I just think the second half looks like the Calzaghe fight...Clevs engine is too big for Hopkins now.
Lets see how much Cleverly opens up when he gets countered every time he tries. This is a great style match up for BHOP. Cleverly is a come forward fighter with an obvious pattern and defensive vulnerability. Will Cleverly be able to deal with the lateral movement? Don't think so considering how well Bellew did with his jab and footwork
Yeah, have the emergency medical team on alert ringside. The guy who hasn't stopped an opponent in almost a decade will kill him.
uh, hopkins is 48. clev wants to fight ali after that. that should put him #1 all time in the minds of the brits.
Hopkins UD. He wins, but struggles more than some might expect. He's as close to shot as you can be without actually being shot. For a perspective on B-Hop's age, consider that Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Meldrick Taylor, Ricardo Lopez, and Terry Norris are all younger than him.
