Cleverly vs Jack

bit of a shame all in all as i think despite having an ok career he seems to have been a bit of a wasted talent. Didnt really seem to improve or step up opposition untill he got steamrollered by Kovalev. wasnt his dad his trainer for most of his fights? Cant help but think that a different gym/trainer could have done something more with him.

 

Probably coz its coming you need to read rather than hear

 

Wish him all the best and the right decision to retire, his head is definitely not in the game anymore and I don't think it has been since he lost to Kovalev. Like the poster above said, think he was a bit of a wasted talent although he's had not a bad career but it could of been quite a lot better.

Good fighter and very tough.

 

Smart decision. Must have made solid money from the Bellew PPV. Maths degree so he should be able to carve ut a different career if he chooses to get out of boxing and sport entirely.

Still feel he maybe could have made more money down the line as a gatekeeper against Yarde or Buatsi. Kinda wanted to see Buglioni challenge for the world title against Clev because of the clash of styles.

clev was utterly destroyed once again when he dared to step up.

at least he has a degree to fall back on.

 

It seemed a bit odd the way cleverly caved in after the first 3 reasonably good rounds where he had some success. Clev always had durability and a great engine...and that surprised me ....not taking anything away from BJ, who did very well, but it may have been a case of Clev just being a "shot" fighter.

Glad he had called it a day. Wish him well.

i have never seen anyone punch with less conviction than Cleverly...he couldn't knock the skin off of custard

 

He was looking lazy and slow . It was like as if Jack wasn't playing buy the rules by working to his rhythm and intensity

Jack found the gaps and made clef suffer for his lazy demeanour.

I'm glad he retired you could see hes lost it. A fresh clev would have at least taken him the 12 for a ud loss imo
