It only takes a few. It really makes you wonder how much of this sh!t was going on in the days before cameras existed on every mobile phone is everyone's pocket.
Probably. But then again I wouldn't be as harsh as I am on violent street gang members either if I were in their shoes...
I have a problem with the system, moreso than the people in the uniforms. It starts with culture and values. The DNA of an organization manifests itself into the kinds of people who are hired, and how they do their work. Most cops just want to have a good job, and want to be good at it. I think, and I hope that we are currently living through the early stages of a major cultural shift for US police.
Sorry didn't read the last two words properly, thought you said a massive cultural change in the USA....
When did this happen because these videos all over the Internet a few months ago didn't paint that picture.
That was f*cking sickening. But the issue is vastly more complicated than half a dozen videos a year. There are millions of interactions between the police and the public every year and they range from heroic to homicidal. Some are mere gangsters in blue. Many are good public servants. Almost all are underpaid and undertrained. Perhaps better pay would recruit a higher level of service. Certainly more mandatory training would help.
