I'm getting sick of grabby ass clinchers ruining the sport of boxing...!!! Don't give me this HIT AND DON'T GET HIT garbage...!!! This is a combat sport...!!! This is a gladiator sport...!!! STAND YOUR GROUND AND FIGHT...!!!

There should be a HARD LIMIT on the number of clinches allowed per round, UNLESS you are HURT and HOLDING ON to SURVIVE...!!! But holding and grabbing a la Mayeather/Broner/Ward/Klitschko just to smother an attack/avoid engagement is disgraceful...!!!

3 clinches per round. Warning on the 4th. Point deduction on the 5th.

Yeah, guys who do it as part of their plan to shut the opponent down should be quickly dealt with by the referee.

Broner should have been disqualified last night.

Judo is also a combat sport.

It has never been stand your ground and fight. You are thinking of russian street boxing.

There is a hard limit. It's called the ref disgression. Not YOUR disgression because you like a certian fighter.

Its not disgraceful, itsa how the sport has always been. You know, like when they allowed clinch throwing and inside dirty boxing. You know, things you WOULD KNOW if you would actually be aware of the **** you are talking.

Refs need to start deducting points on this.
I can't blame fighters for doing it since they get away with it, but we can blame refs for not enforcing the rules.

When clinching is part of the strategy, there is a problem. If refs won't enforce the rules, maybe we should aware judges that negative tactics should not win rounds.

Sometimes the guy falls into it. Klit vs Pov for example. klit clinches heavily. But Pov bullrushed into him with his head down. What was wlad supposed to do? His him in the back of his head or the spine?

Clinch is actually illegal go look it up in the boxing rule book. I think clinching has its place in the sport but its being exploited and it needs to stop. Look at last nights fight between Broner and Porter. Broner did nothing but clinch for the better part of the fight and Weeks allowed it giving a couple warnings then finally taking a point in the 11th. I think it should be penalized more which would be pretty easy to enforce. Theres a difference in wrapping a guy up in certain situations and a guy holding on for dear life the minute his opponent gets anywhere near him (floyd/pac)

This post proves beyond a shadow of a doubt you are just a pathetic troll that DKSAB.
There are fantastic BOXERS like Ali, Robinson, Willie Pep, etc who really BOX & are capable of standing & fighting when necessary. Then you have the cowards like Mayweather , Broner, Klitschko etc who run & Grab purely to survive.
Like the poster said earlier Its time referees started demanding that the rules be followed ,showed some cojones & started taking points early. after all they are The Man in Charge.
BUT that's not going to happen . Any person that took points off or God forbid DQ"d Mayweather etc. when needed Would never be allowed to officiate again

    :hi:

I don't think clinch per round is the best way to go but certainly some rule to avoid excessive clinching should be put in place. An experienced referee can distinguish situations where it is inevitable and where it is used purely as a tactic. Just look at last night. Broner did not get a deduction until it didn't matter anymore. They ref system should be rebuilt altogether. Right now it's a joke.

Does anyone remember a guy named Ricky Hatton. Essentially he was allowed to be a mma fighter in boxing matches in the UK. I hope none of you that praised him in the past are commenting in this thread because there was a good number of you and you had no problem with it back then.

    This post is so re****ed.

If a boxer isn,t clinching more than 10 times per rounds it shouldn't even warrant a warning.

This is how you deal with a clincher cry baby armchair fanatics. You wouldn't understand this because your favorite fighter lost to a guy that YOU call a clincher lol.
