So is clinching illegal or what? I see some refs enforce the rule for certain fighters but not for all. Some may give a warning if a guy is clinching too much. But ive seen many fights where intentional clinching happens often and the ref just breaks them as if nothing. I am personally not a fan of it and i think it kind of ruins the sport a bit. What are your thoughts? Should it be counted against a fighter or left as is?

unless you wanna see fighters ending up like muhammed ali a lot then probably left as it is
its used to nullify punches, and as a defence, so why not
excessive clinching can be illegal, but there is a fine line i guess.

For a recent disgraceful exhibit of clinching, watch Mayweather-Maidana II. At one point, Floyd lunged forward and clinched when Maidana didn't even throw a punch.

Clinching should be allowed in spots, here and there. But it should not be allowed to be used as a tactical gameplan.

    not what i meant
i meant unless you wanna end up with fighters getting punched loads and loads and ending up eventually with parkinson, then it should be allowed to an extent but not too excessively

I like to see offense. Clinching probably will always happen, but one way to minimize it is to put in the scoring guideline that credit is given to the fighter who is being clinched. So it will be up to the clincher to decide if he wants to lose rounds by clinching so often.

Why don't you give your own example and stop judging other people's feedback.
