Side note: Forgot that the sanctioning bodies were still authorizing 15-round title fights in 1987.

A guy from my neighborhood who I know was the last Champion to defend his title in a 15 rounder. Calvin Grove. He got totally ripped off in a bull ring down in Mexico. They were thankful to lose the decision because they would not have made it out of there otherwise.

It's amazing how much Paz has changed. Like Duran, he's probably a HW by now.

taunting is not that bad if it is used to get an advantage in a fight. Fights are won inside and outside the ring.

Duran gained a lot and then he lost.. He is probably just being health conscious and lost weight to get healthier, which is what I tried to do but it is hard.

Duva was not averse to playing the fool and making a donkey of himself. Didn't Roger Mayweather punch Duva after winning a decision against Pazienza?

As you all know, that sort of thing is common in boxing. I saw a sparring session that involved a guy that won the national Gold Gloves two years in a row. The other guy's trainer would way over react any time his boxer threw a punch. The gold gloves guy let this irritate him; he started arguing between rounds and pretty soon he was paying more attention to the trainer talking than to his opponent punching.

The Gold Gloves guy, his trainer finally stopped the sparring. He told his fighter "you messed up, everybody in Texas will know about this by morning and from now on this will happen every time."

I’ll have to look up the Mayweather fight. Never cared for Duva’s antics and hysterics, so I kind of hope you’re right.

Lou was very blessed to be able to buy an entire Olympic Gold Medal Team. He backed his fighters though until he didn't need them. Lou was likeable though sometimes a buffoon. I remember being afraid for him during the Bowe Golota riot. It didn't look good. Vinny Pazienza told a story about a time he was struggling to make weight. He was in the Sauna sweating and Lou Duva is right outside the door eating a jelly donut. That isn't a guy i want running my career.

I've always had respect for Greg Haugen. I thought he was a standup dude. Good boxer with understated skills. The opposite of Paz who was all bluster and wasted motion. Haugen didn't let anyone intimidate him.
People may remember him for talking trash before he went to Mexico to fight JCC but he was the one that had to back it up. His career was way more than that.

Was that when Paez bounced him down and up like a basketball?

Yes you are correct .. Roger hits him with an uppercut I think , it's hard to see. But Duva, aka "Jaba the Hut" hits the canvas and comes up with a nasty cut .. watch at 100:40
