If he had the second best jab ever he wouldn't have been trailing Moorer really.

Maybe Gil thinks moorer had the first best jab ever...

In fairness i get what mr clancy was saying...and certainly he witnessed up close and personal how george devastated gerry cooney with his jab

It was a good jab, but it’s frequency was bad.

A better jab has not been seen since. Stewart is on the back foot and he's still getting ram rodded by the jab.

The way George moved forward and landed double jabs at the same time is a testament to his balance and footwork.

So far as I know nobody came out of a fight with Foreman and said “I could not get past that jab”. And that is kind of crucial to rating an all time jab. Because a good jab used well is an excellent tool. It can defend, it can obstruct and it can score. That’s the definition of a great jab. Just being a hard jab alone does not make it a great jab.

I have no doubt George’s Jab was one of the hardest jabs of all time, but he did not do the things with it that makes a jab an ATG jab. It never prevented anyone from hitting him more times than he hit them. I didn’t see him win a round with just the jab. The jab to Foreman was just another punch to hit somebody with. All the punches he had were hard. Big George whole game plan was to be a tank. To pace himself, plough forward into the smaller guy behind cross arms and make the little guy work like hell to get out of the way. He planned to batter them as they stopped for a breather. Like all the best game plans it was simple. And it was effective so long as he was heavier, hit harder and stronger than the guys he fought.

When fighters came out of the ring with George they said he was strong. He just kept walking them down. And he was big, hit hard. But he was 260lb and very experienced.

    Probably the heaviest jab ever.
After all, Foreman was around 250-260 lbs in his comeback.

    I respect that opinion.
Old Foreman certainly had an incredible jab.

I'm not 100% sure he's just talking "old" Foreman tbh.

I think he’s just talking about it being a hard jab.

He certainly depended on the jab more in his 2nd career. He needed it to set up his power punches. I agree that it was perhaps along with Liston the heaviest jab. Ali and Holmes along with Joe Louis.

Honorable mention to Pinklon Thomas strictly on the quality of his jab.

Nobody ever tried because they knew his jab was an impenetrable force. Those who beat ForemanII adopted a hit & move strategy off the back foot. It was unbecoming of aggressive attacker Morrison to box the way he did but did so cos he knew that was the only way to secure a victory.

Foreman used as jab as a weapon , much like Liston did. Neither guy needed to use it as a defensive weapon because the opponent was already beaten by it by the time they entered into the ring.

BGs jab is immune to criticism it was so good.
