One of the more bizarre sequences in the recent history of championship fights. Norwood charges Gainer and ends up basically suplexing himself like a WWF wrestler. Ref Paul Sita for some reason starts to give him a 20 count. Weird. Norwood made this a very ugly fight and the inept officiating didn't help. https://streamable.com/cx93l
It was a weird and somewhat hilarious fight. One of the most inept displays of refereeing I have ever seen (Coggi-Gonzalez 1 is the most corrupt). Somehow, Paul Sita didn't disqualify Norwood, and confused the 5 minute rule for low blows with the 20 count for fighters who fall out the ring. Yet Norwood beat the 20 count, and still Sita stopped it. This content is protected
That is strange. What do you guys think the right move for the ref would've been? Not to give a count at all, but have him check with the doctor?
Why? Do you think Gainer committed a foul there? It looked to me more like Norwood tackled him (head first), causing Gainer to lose his balance and fall backwards.
Referee should have awarded points for creativity. That wasn't an easy move the fighters pulled off there. Instead he's giving out "11 counts". Maybe the extra second is a bonus point ? Quite creative himself really, should have given himself a point too. Rules are open to interpretation.
