For their third fight? According to the clip, they both had trouble making weight. It was apparently rumored that Duran had to lose 15 pounds in the final four weeks of camp.

I remember all three of their matches, the first one which was a non title fight on Nov 17 1972, which was Duran's first loss by unanimous 10 round decision, he was decked in round 1. The second one for Roberto's WBA Title on March 16 1974, Duran decked in round 1, stopped Esteban De Jesus by TKO 11. The third one was for title unification, WBA and WBC Lightweight Title, Duran stopped De Jesus by TKO 12 on Jan 21 1978, Hands of Stone looked phenomenal. But in his last title fight at 135 lbs, he was having trouble making that weight already, that led to his vacating the title and fighting Monroe Brooks at 140 lbs, then his WBC tile winning bout against Sugar Ray Leonard on June 20 1980.

No. It is called being superbly trained and conditioned. Fighters today do not have this ability. It is entirely a snowflake pussified world and society.
