    Two points:

    1) No, your comments contain unsupported negative and positive claims alike. For instance, take your claim that Marciano's 2-lb steak and potato dinner is as close to absolutely ideal as you can get (for a top athlete). What is your empirical support for this claim? I would be interested in any studies purporting to show that steak is better for athletic performance than leaner sources of protein (the most obvious alternative to a two-pound steak). I would also be interested in any science suggesting that big, fatty dinners are ideal for athletes. You also claimed that there are no proteins of higher quality than animal protein. I would be interested in any studies that support or clarify that claim.

2), It might clear things up if you shared with us why you feel so confident making claims about the limits of scientific knowledge in these areas. Here as in other threads, you've announced your "negative" claims about the limits of the existing scientific research in a manner that clearly seems intended to convey that you have a comprehensive knowledge of the pertinent research literatures on nutrition, exercise, and athletic performance--that if scientists had discovered the relative superiority of a given diet or training regimen for athletic performance, you would know about it. Is this so? If so, could you share with us the general basis of your knowledge? Have you read many empirical studies in these areas? If so, could you please share any studies that you think would be most useful in addressing the misconceptions that you read on this board?

    Thanks in advance.

Wonder if Goldman was ever tempted to ask "is that a banana in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

    I mean it’s definitely a healthy diet.
I think, however, when it comes to figuring the optimal diet, thats when things get fuzzy.

I asked my brother to send the info about the fatty meats instead of the lean ones, and when he does I’ll post it here. He used to live by lean meats so I was surprised when he changed.

Eating under 2000 calories a day is a bad idea for developing a athletes body. The type of food Rocky ate was fine.

I remember Ortiz wasn't allowed eat a slice of pineapple when he was training for Mayweather.

Sometimes LaMotta's diet consisted of sucking ice cubes.

Provodinov replenished by eating raw moose livers.

Why not? Duran ate a couple steaks before his second fight with Leonard.

BTW...that first clip looks like Rocky is eating a very tough steak. Unless he's sawing with a butter knife.

Endurance seems to have been more of the boxing equation in the past: hence the leaner, lighter heavyweights. Today's behemoths are huffing and puffing after just a couple of rounds.

Pasta and fruit juice are a horrible addition to the training table. Luckily these guys burned through their calories.

It probably did hurt his performance but he was still good enough. When your training hard you need lots of calories or your just going to break your body down.

Yea I get that and I agree I used to box myself, Rocky had plenty of stamina, he did the full 15 rounds at a good pace and was still chucking plenty bombs in the last! God knows what he would of been like with better nutrition!

As an endurance athlete, I can help you on this point. Steak is preferred over leaner sources of protein, because it aids the body in storing and retaining carbohydrates. Retaining the carbohydrates becomes as much of a problem as getting them down your neck.

This is absolutely true and overlooked.

These HWs today are having serious stamina issues.
I mean, AJ having to recover for three rounds after trying a finish volley?

Or Izu being toast after four rounds against Brezeale?
    It's weird.

Imagine Louis goes for the finish in round three.
    It doesn't pan out.
He gasps for air, and hangs on for dear life the next two rounds.
    What?
