Been around enough to see fashions come and go, to see hard science be refuted a decade later... Young guys who train 6+ hours a day have a certain leeway. See: Mike Phelps. However, somethings do create nutritional obstacles.

    Totally agree.

There's a gamble to carrying unnatural muscle. But if the gamble keeps paying off what are we to surmise?

The Klit brother were in incredible shape....what did their training diet consist of? If I'm not mistaken both
guys had PhD in sports science or something like that.

We are to surmise that when one guy is gasping for air and hanging on for dear life it can mean one or both of these things:
1, that the weight of the guy hanging on drains the guy he's hanging onto.
2, that the other guy is as equally limited to a restricted output as the guy he can't finish off.

yeah, endurance athletes actually need more calories then most other athletes, because they burn more in training.

If it's true Rocky only ate one meal a day during training he would have been breaking his body down a lot and been nowhere near what his physical peak.

A athlete training like Marciano should be getting close to 4000 calories a day. Marciano trained so hard maybe even more calories. I think Michale Phelps ate close to 8000 calories a day.

So, all heavies and their trainers are either or both lazy and misguided?

I hear you, but if it becomes too much of a pattern, it might shift.

If AJ gasses against Wilder and/or Fury, it will change how people look at it.

They don't train like they used too. Gulping down raw eggs in a glass or drinking Ovaltine just doesn't happen nowadays.Today is filled with science of better understanding of how the body breaks down foods, enzymes, proteins and utilizes an abundance of supplements that aid in recovery and strength.Who needs that jargon, not me?

Its a all a big myth today that the athletes have a broader understanding when and when not to eat, take or consume liquids too...we need to go back to the one meal a day, less protein, less nutrients so your body breaks down faster BC that's the way it was, who's to argue with past eras and change .Its all a scam.

No I would not say they were lazy or misguided since they can still be very effective. but I would say the vast majority of that sized man are of the oaf variety rather than the athlete variety. And it's foolish to light a candle for the Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis types to emerge because they are as rare as hens teeth in the division.

The most recent heavyweight matches I watched were Joe Joyce vs Ian Lewison, Jarrel miller vs Mariusz Wach and Dillon Whyte vs Robert Helenius.. which were absolute junk! Gaping mouthed Fat boys hugging each other.

Since the creation of the Superheavyweight division in the Olympics there has been somewhere for the amateur jumbo heavyweight who could not previously win tournaments. Pro trainers and managers recruit from these tournaments.

All this talk of modern fighters being better because of modern nutrition.....

The food ain't no different, it's that stuff that's pricked into their ass nowadays that's different......

They don't train like they used to? They actually train harder, IMHO.

Lol @ a WORLD CLASS ATHLETE such as an elite boxer surviving on one a SINGLE meal in a day! Come off it, mate.

Er, yes it will do more harm than a banana.

Your blood sugar levels will drop, therefore you will feel sluggish, and then you won't perform as good as you'd want to.
