The only bad thing about fruit juice is that it's relatively high in simple sugars, and even this isn't bad ipso fato.

I've been busy, but I'm replying now.

    So then.

    1) By absolutely ideal, I mean presently, given current knowledge, not necessarily for the foreseeable future or in the broadest possible context. I mean like in the sense in the sense that a Chevalier musket was (at least arguably) an ideal battle weapon in 1780.
This is a necessary logical consequence if it is the case there is no active evidence to positively suggest anyone knows of anything better. I'm not claiming to foreclose upon the possibility of any future improvements (but I do think it's unlikely short of direct manipulation at the cellular level).

    2) Why are you confident are you that there is not an amusement park twice the size of Disney world within fifteen miles of your current residence? The short answer to how one can be justifiably confident of negative claims is twofold: a) if there's no active reason to believe them to begin with they're simply false by default
    and
    b) Much more decisively, if they were at all likely to be true you'd have at the very least heard of them. That is, the existence of certain things is very, very unlikely to evade your efforts to detect them.

It's not entirely clear to me what you were asking here. Were you asking how to search for scientific papers on a given topic, or asking how you can be satisfied that search is exhaustive?

Your comment is almost completely nonresponsive to my queries. Among other things I asked for studies, not syllogisms. See below:

Joe Frazier recommended a similar diet in his book How to Box. Whatever thats worth.

Yeah, I'll cite the studies as soon as you hand over the keys.
    "Eh? The keys to what?!"

    Exactly.

So, again, what specific claim are you asking me to adduce with specific studies? You know, for a moment there I thought you were sincerely curious but now it looks much more like you're trying to weary me with aimless busy work.

Huh? I was more than clear enough in specifying which kinds of studies I was hoping to receive from you. I made a series of specific requests and then I made a broad, open-ended request. For your convenience, I even reposted my initial comment above.

Crazy he was eating 1 meal a day, no wonder he was so lean.

I never thought I'd see the day when people who follow boxing would actually query the steak diet of boxers, which as far as I know is or was more or less standard.

What the hell could be wrong with eating steak?

I'm sure steak is fine. Less convinced that starving one's self and then eating a 2-lb steak & potato meal at the end of the day is "about as close to absolutely ideal as you could get" though. But it apparently worked for Marciano somehow...

Intermittent fasting has actually become a major fad in the sports/fitness/bodybuilding circles in recent years, for what that's worth. Eating one big meal a day or restricting eating to a 4 to 6 hour "window" per 24 hours is a bit of a big thing now, among the young fitness fanatics, etc.
10 years ago the same types would have scoffed at that, claiming "5 or 6 meals a day" as almost mandatory.

It takes some discipline to eat once a day. Marciano did fine on that, yes.
