“Everybody you have ever seen in front of Deontay Wilder, skill wise, were better than him. Haven’t y’all found out that don’t matter?” - Nazim Richardson I think it's time we start redefining what makes a fighter a good fighter. People put way too much stock in fancy movement and cookie cutter skill.
None of this is strictly true. He clearly could throw a jab, and had some deceptively subtle elements to his game, and the idea that he had slow hands is downright laughable. It is hardly fair to say that Schmeling was his only significant win. You also have Levinsky, Carnera, Farr, Comiskey to name a few. You are kind of contradicting yourself here, because he won the title from the largest lineal champion of all time. Doesn't that rather squash the idea that he was successful because his opponents were small?
I couldn’t disagree more with your analysis on Baer. I’ve seen him use his jab brilliantly, slip punches with cat like precision, throw sharper and shorter punches then guys like Povetkin, Sanders, and Haye. If he only had a big right hand punch, how do you explain the bazookas he landed with his left?
Baer can't jab, slip, or throw sharp punches? And he has bad reflexes? Can we possible refute that in a 5 second clip? https://streamable.com/pxep5 Why yes, yes we can. No clue why people carry on these narratives that don't align with reality. If you want to throw sticks at certain boxers because you play favoritism, fine. But please don't paint it as an objective analysis.
Dude I like your streamables so I won't jump back on your accusatory response .. that being said your claim of Baer as some sort of boxing jabbing and defensive wizard is hilarious.
Saying fighter X has no jab is a pretty major claim. And these are real people with legacies we’re talking about. And furthermore, the evidence doesn’t even support the claim. Why wouldn’t I assume favoritism in this scenario. Perhaps it’s an honest aporaisal, but it’s just so far off I have trouble receiving it like that. Also if you’re confident in your stance, why the need to exaggerate my response? I never said he was some jabbing wizard. But he did have a nice strong, snapping jab. I’m not going to take that away from him because of pressure.
