Sometimes, a fighters level of competition can make it appear he's better at some skill in boxing than he actually is. Jaime Garza was 40-0 with 40 Ko's.( Don't blast me if I'm wrong, going off of memory, and I'm old lol) The 1st live body he fought K'oed him.
Mayweather Jr. Looked like a defensive genius, but his level of competition, especially above Jr. Welter is extremely suspect. To say the least.
All of the big names were well beyond prime, the rest were tailor made for him. The only real threat to him was Alvarez. But at that point of his career, he wasn't the fighter he would become. And he is overrated in my opinion.

 

Mayweather totally was better than Ali. Better resume and better h2h at his peak, or otherwise.

 

To be fair it was everyone he fought. Made Delahoya Pac Alvarez JMM and more look amateurish. These are too level HOF fighters. Mayweather has a fair amount of quality on his resume he just may not have as much as say Ezzard Charles or Archie Moore or SRR but he blows the likes of RJJ away

 

Why does this offend people so much? He's an ATG fighter and when you're in that class it's your right to make claims like this.

Ali definitely has an argument for top 10.

Mayweather is an arrogant obnoxious *******, and very boring to watch, but in this case he happens to be right.
Worth mentioning though that his moniker is TBE not GOAT.
It's debatable whether FMJ is greater or not, but he's definitely a better boxer.

 

IMO Mayweather is already top 10 skill wise

 

How can anyone even say Ali > Mayweather? Ali was out there while he was still a champion fighting football players and trying to tempt basketball players over to fight him. Did Floyd ever cherrypick a dude like Chuck Wepner at the top of his money-making potential? HELL NO.
