The same excuse came out when Chisora beat the body off him and ran him from pillar to post.

Vitali had only one arm they said , yet it was clear for all to see that he was clubbing away with both arms perfectly fine right up until the final bell.

I think the fact Vitali openly ducked the rematch proves that he had more problems with Byrd than he had with himself.

Its pretty damning when you can't beat or rematch Byrd.. But its nowhere near as bad as Wlad getting beat and ducking a rematch against cherry picked past prime Sanders :drooling::eyebrow2::shakehead:

These clips are good examples of why Byrd probably didn’t accept the cuff injury as the main excuse. He was still getting tagged with that left, so it’s no wonder.

This is a really good post that uncovers something interesting.

While these clips can be great, they are no substitute for the fight, or broadcast comments in the corner.

HBO picked up Vitali telling his corner his arm was injured many rounds before the 9th. The injury is the only reason Byrd won and Vitali needed surgery to fix it.

All this fight shows is Vitali injured was easily beating Byrd. Had the fight been for higher stakes or later in Vitali's career, he might have risked further injury. Later in his career. Vitali beat Chisora with a similar injury that did not need surgery,

Vitali should make the hall of fame today.

He has nothing on any of those punches. He was basically pawing with the left in order to load up the right. Byrd was walking through whereas guys like Sam Peter couldn't.

    Educate yourself:

We already knew that Klitschko, even at 40, was a dominant heavyweight champion and one of the best big men in history. Now we know he can also win a fight with one arm. Making the eighth defense of his third title reign, Ukraine's Klitschko won a rough, physical fight against England's hard-charging, but much smaller, Chisora, and he did it essentially using only his right hand. That is because Klitschko suffered a torn ligament in his left shoulder in the third round. The injury will not require surgery, but will likely keep Klitschko out of action until the fall, meaning he will miss a planned summer bout. The injury also left him unable to use his best weapon -- the jab -- with any serious impact. Instead, Klitschko took Chisora apart with right hand after right hand in a fight televised in the United States on Epix.

Klitschko threw straight rights, overhand rights and rights to the body throughout the fight and connected with a ton of them. At one point between rounds, Chisora was spitting pure blood into the bucket in his corner. For the fight, Klitschko landed 211 of 605 blows (35 percent) while Chisora was limited to landing only 163 of 359 blows (45 percent). Chisora, who showed zero class by slapping Klitschko hard across the face during the staredown after the weigh-in, took a lot of heavy shots and deserves credit for his chin and big heart. He also dished out some punishment to Klitschko, who has taken so little over the years. From the outset, Klitschko went to work with his right hand while Chisora missed wildly with a lot of shots. But between the injury and Chisora's constant pressure, Klitschko did slow down some in the middle rounds even though he never appeared in any serious danger. Chisora had predicted an eighth-round knockout, but that round came and went with little concern for Klitschko.

And most of the time he was literally pushing his right hand.

True, though he mostly pawed with his left to set up his rights throughout the fight.

Because he was an arm puncher for his entire career. Thats exactly how he looked in every fight. His technique was atrocious. Whats the excuse for looking this bad?? Looks like something you see from an Abbott and Costello sketch

    More post-fights excuses ..

Vitali's highest jab count was in the 12th round
His highest total punch out put for any round was in the 12th round.

Nice opinion piece that written by Fat Dan who was on the K2 pay roll.

You going to go through with the wager YOU offered to me or not????

    Hello Dino,

Please sit down as I have some disturbing news. Vitali Klitschko just made the Boxing Hall of Fame ( And lead the vote tally I hear ) on his very first ballot.

We look forward to watching you lamely argue with greatness.

Winky Wright isn't a great and neither is Vitali.. Many hall of famers are not ATGs.

Since you want no more of the other discussion , we'll leave it at this.. You lied about HBO knowing about an injury after the 3rd round..They know nothing of any injury until Cornelius Vintier informed them at the end of the 9th.

Neither HBO , Byrd or anybody watching saw an injured Vitali. He tapped out due to exhaustion , then fled from a rematch.

    The End.

    Dino,

You make me laugh. I never saw a man so sure of himself to be wrong as often as you are. As I said before you give the true haters a bad name as you simply are not informed.

I agree that Wright was a bit of a reach. File that under the broken clock category for you.
