what was it like watching a fight on closed circuit? did you get many people going to watch fights? was the atmosphire great
It was fantastic. When I first started going as a teenager in the latter 60's they were shown in some of the local theaters in downtown Indy, then graduated into the larger venues. The atmosphere was great, at Ali-Foreman, FOTC, there were people dressed in evening gowns and tuxedos. At Frazier/Quarry 1 it was like we were there live. All in all, I probably went to 10-12 over the years. My dad and uncle went to a fair share in the 50's-60's and they actually attended the Patterson-London bout here in Indy. A Korean war vet I've become friends with was there that night and said Tony Zale set right behind him and Ingo was there snapping pictures with his Swedish girlfriend in tow. In 62 Dad went to Patterson/Liston 1 at the Indiana theater and obviously came home earlier than expected, woke me up and told me that my hero had been blasted out in the first round; cried myself back to sleep :verysad
