Just looking to share some of the more obscure, less talked about great fights that I've come across in my time as a fan. Enjoy. This content is protected
Tate was scheduled to face Randie Carver for the NABF title but instead went to challenge Sven Ottke for the IBF Super Middleweight Championship. Carver fought for the vacant NABF title, beating William Bo James. In his next fight Carver suffered a head injury and passed away. Tate honored his one time sparring partner and friend Carver by having his initials RC signed on his handwraps for every fight he had after that fateful day...!!!
Is it as good as Sosa's war with Prince Charles Williams? That fight was sick! I hear that it's sequel was great too but I can't find footage anywhere.
Not bad. Not as good as the Prince Charles Williams fight, but not bad. Can you believe Sosa in this? "Alright Sosa, you have 3 inches of height and 2 inches of reach. You're your own trainer. What's your plan?" "I'm gonna' fight out of a crouch, throw wide looping shots, and fight on the inside."
Anyone have any thoughts on Tate as a fighter? Seems a bit underrated nowadays, never really hear anything about the man.
I think he had knock knees (naturally somewhat crippled legs), dont think movement was really an option for him. But he had an iron jaw, big punch and alot of heart
I believe he was due to challenge Calzaghe but I think retired instead and I think Pudwill was the short notice sub
