Lets suppose Cotto gives Clottey a rematch (unlikely); what happens this time? I was rooting for Clottey the first time around (notice the terrible Avy); but think that Cotto would convincingly take the rematch. I think the fight was damn close, but had Cotto's eye been 100%, I think he could have been the first to KO Clottey. He hurt Clottey at times worse than I've ever seen him hurt.
Clottey even said himself that Cotto made him think twice about engaging. Like you said, had it not been for the cut Cotto would have won the fight more convincingly. This is what Clottey said after the fight: "I had a nerve problem for the rest of the fight," said Clottey, adding of the first-round knockdown, "It was beautiful. Cotto actually pushed me back and drove me back and caught me off balance."
I think Cotto was starting to figure out Clottey towards the end. If they rematch, I think he boxes and moves on the outside, looking mostly to counter, and takes the fight much more convincingly. I can't agree that Cotto had Clottey hurt though. It's obvious Clottey's knee was hurting him, but I don't think he was buzzed by any punches, even the one that scored the knockdown.
Thats funny....you can't agree Cotto had Clottey hurt, yet Clottey admitted to it. Someone is in denial!!!!
The round when Clottey was pinned in the corner for an extended period of time looked like he was hurt. Cotto was defintely getting through and causing damage/ Clottey handled business in the next round though.
i,m a big cotto fan & he showed right quality to come thru but clottey could make a right fight of it if he upped his workrate,& cut out some of his shenanigans trying to get a dsq.in fact because of these he doesnt deserve an automatic rematch
