He aint not Floyd when it comes to boxing skill but Cotto does pretty well for himself. Enough to beat Clottey I believe.

I feel the same way. But man, that interview was funny as ****. The part where he says "I chase him out of 147 to 154...that is unbelieveable" had me rolling because the look on his face was priceless.

Anywho, I think this great match up on paper. I feel that Clottey will give Cotto some problems, mainly early in the fight, with his quick counters and tigh guard. But ultimately, I think the difference in the fight will be Clottey's workrate, (or lack thereof) and him lacking fight changing power. Clottey has excellent defense, as far as head shots go, but he is wide open to the body. He also seems to be a bit of a front runner and spurt fighter. Cotto outworks Clottey and wins by close, but clear decision.

i dont think cotto ever means to throw low blows. when he throws body punches he digs and his fist is usually lower than the groin (which is where his power comes from) before he connects. when the other fighter comes in close or lifts, maybe sensing the shot, it sometimes ends up a low blow. he really doesn't seem the type of dickhead to just throw low blows to even the score or catch his breath. the guy doesnt even clinch. if you watch him throw body punches it's pretty obvious.

I feel bad for Clottey. He's a real good fighter that gets no play. He has to do this to set up fights.

I would have to agree. Indeed. Probably not lights out, but he will have Cotto hurt. It'll take more than just one to put Cotto away. Alot more. Cotto will be moving - IF Clottey comes forward pressing. And Cotto will be extremely vulnerable to Clottey's fall-in right, and short counter uppercuts and hooks inside. Cotto won't have the luxury of just bowling this guy over. Cotto will have to prove how good he actually is.

I can't agree at all. Cotto is one of the more accurate punchers in the sport. The timing of many of his low blows are always on the heels of his opponent landing a good shot. It's almost never an accident when he lands on the cup. No chance.

After running alot of tape of Cotto and Clottey back to back I have to agree. Clottey is indeed more genuinely skilled - however, Cotto is the more purposeful and determined fighter in general, and that's what might have some people looking at Cotto more.

I wouldn't be surprised. This fight has alot of potential, no doubt at all.

    Hype!

    I've never seen Cotto run . . . not against Mosley . . . not against Margarito . . . not against anybody else . . . that's a fact. :deal

Agreed. This guy deserves some sort of a shot. He has to try to hit at Cotto's pride just to get him to fight. The problem is that Clottey is a bad matchup for Cotto right now.
