OK. You are getting closer to understanding this finally. Yes, he was knocked off balance. Many consider being in position to be knocked off balance as being 'off balance'. That might be causing some confusion here. The punch didn't really hurt him, buckle his knees or anything like that. Lets say you take a non spinning top and manage to get it to stand on end while it is not spinning. It doesn't take much to topple it. This is closer to what happened with Clottey. You are trying to make this into something more. It simply isn't. Had the round continued he wouldn't have been trying to cover up, hold, etc....

Once again I NEVER said Clottey was hurt or that he does not have a good Chin.

Clottey was not off balance BEFORE the punch landed like many on here are claiming. People on here are trying to twist my post around because they are embarrassed by their fighter getting knocked down by a Jab.

Hell just about any fighter that gets knocked down is off balance AFTER the punch so is every knockdown simply a case of balance? Nope.

I never seen the fight but Im guessing it was bad balance, same thing happened to Benitez v Leonard as well sure, its rare but it can happen.

He was off balance when he got hit. Not all knockdowns are because of chins. Almost as many flash knockdowns are as a result of bad footwork as are a result of getting buzzed. But you're the chin expert, you should know that.

By "off balance" I mean that his feet were placed in a manner so that his center of gravity wasn't actually in the center. Thus it takes less to knock him over.

look at it carefully. Clottey was in motion. his feet weren't firmly planted on the canvas. cotto hit him with a stiff jab.

since you admit that this is a non-chin issue, you should drop the subject. it's not "disgraceful" to be knocked down by a jab. Cotto has a stiff jab. Boxers with good jabs like Buster Douglas knocked guys down with a jab.

This. Not really too much different than getting feet tangled. Lots of awkward things happen in sports. There is a youtube that gets posted from time to time of Pac going down from a jab that was a legit KD. Pac seems to have recovered well. You are just making too much of this. That is the bottom line issue here.

Exactly. No one's saying that. But it is clear that he can be knocked off his feet. Therefore his chin is NOT "granite."

I'm surprised no one has piped in and said "but that punch woulda knocked down anyone!!!" :rofl:rofl

This is true. Clottey wasn't even off balance like the huggers/hater claim. He came into a jab, it buzzed him, he fell over, he got up and his chin was fine for the rest of the fight - taking some good Cotto bombs.
