    This thread is laughable.
So someone getting caught off balance the being hit, meaning they fall on there arse is a disgrace? It was a flash knockdown and Clottey wasn't hurt at all.

I'm not so sure that showing a video of Chuvalo getting repeatedly hit by huge punches from a fighter considered one of the best punchers in the history of boxing does anything but reinforce the fact that Chuvalo had a granite chin.
However, I believe the same argument can be made for Hagler. I don't think the sole determining factor in a chin debate has to be whether or not a fighter ever went to the canvas.
Hagler was more hurt against Hearns (albeit very briefly), but he stayed on his feet.

It's as if you guys did not see the fight.

Clottey was caught off balance, fell down, got up and was visibly furious at the fact that he even touched the canvas.

He wasn't remotely hurt by the punch.

Who said he was hurt? I sure as hell did not. He was not off balance until he got hit with that jab.

The significance behind the knockdown is largely irrelevant if you're solely discussing whether it's a disgrace or not, or whether Clottey has an iron chin or not, or what constitutes an off balance knockdown, etc.
The only thing that really matter is that it was a knockdown, and it played a role in the fight as Clottey could have won that round if it hadn't happened. Instead, it put him 2 points down early on.

It actually raises another issue, and that's whether or not a fighter should automatically get a 10-8 round when he knocks a guy down. If the guy who got knocked down was winning the round up until just before the bell when the knockdown occurred, I'd much rather see a 10-9 round instead of 10-8. Anyways, that's a whole other topic.

why do I get the feeling if the knockdown was from a right hand and not a jab there would be none of this off balance crap. :think

Cotto's jab is stronger than his right hand

Because you are backing a dead horse and just find new ways to be wrong. This happens all the time in boxing. There is a difference between going down because of a balance issue and going down because you are in la la land.
