Funny how nobody has mentioned Margarito or even Williams in this thread.

I agree. In Canada, Well for Steve Molitor/Ontario. We require same day weigh in. That was the main reason for Caballero/Molitor problems.

I mean, it doesn't seem to be effecting Molitor's performance or excitement level does it?

I think same day weigh ins are amazing for the sport. If you're an idiot enough to not traing properly and unable to make 147 at any given time... That is NOT your natural fighting weight.

AT no place in time should a fighter Middleweight or Below exceed his fighting weight on fight night by 12 pounds.

    Anything more is ludicrous.

As an amateur. I fight at the weight I comfortabley make. I only have to lose 2-4 pounds waterweight at most. It doesn't effect my opponents or me, because of same day weigh ins you get more realistic fights.

It's just called remaining dedicated, and not looking for an easy out.

...and then they'd stop doing it if they were too weak to fight that way. This is how it always used to be and how it still should be.

Totally, the risk of serious injury is a lot higher having a weigh in on the day of the fight.

There isn't a risk of injury if they fight in their own weight class. They'll be forced to, by same day weigh ins. If they have any sense that is.

switch to same day weigh ins and throw in a minimum hydration level as well (simple bmi test won't take too much longer).

We need to get some sort of normality back into the sport, a sport the public can identify with.

The two main problems are alphabet soup and this ridiculous weighing in system that caters for potentially having guys with 10+ lbs weight difference. Entirely defeats the object, we may as well not have weigh ins. Only the other day my brother who knows **** asked why one dude was way bigger than the other

Fighters need to take responsibility for their own weight management and strength coming into a fight. Same day weigh ins achieve this.

the solution is in my opinion. Weigh in day b4 fight as they do now. Then weigh in the day of the fight with stipulations that the fighters dont put on anymore than say 5 pounds. Will never happen but it seems a solution to me. IT would stop fighters weighing in enuff to fight in a higer division but would help people who had really drained to make the weight

You assholes act like the bigger guy always wins. In the first Williams vs Quintana fight Williams put on alot of weight after the weigh in and look what happened??? The second fight he came in alot lighter and destroyed Quintana.

Being bigger isn't always an advantage.

    Individual matchups are irrelevant.

The point is we have weight classes in order to bring about some sort of fairness. I mean you'd assume two guys fighting in the same weight class actually weigh the same when they are in the ring. It's not too much to ask.
