Yeah i have mate, i had to make 65kg for a freesyle karate comp, everyone weighed on the day, and that was the rules, i weighed in about 63kg.

Dont blame Clottey, blame the rules.

And PBF can win against bigger guys, if Zab was good enough, he would have found a way to win.

Same day weigh-ins could save lives.

Serious injuries have not gone down since they started weighing in a day before fights.Bring back same day weigh-ins to level the playing field.

yes this would make fighter stay in shape year round instead making weight just to rehydrate 15 to 20 pound over the weight limit.

If fighter watcher there weight in between fights and stayed in shape there wouldn't ever be a question of brain injury ..

The only fighter that are at risk are the fighter that don't stay in shape and have to drop down 25 lb and fighter who take fights at the last min fight and drop weight drastically , that gets fighter hurt.

should be same day weigh ins period. i'm sure they can test for excessive dehydration and not let guys fight whom are unhealthy. also, let a few guys get hurt on same day weigh ins and that will stop all those big guys temporarily shrinking themselves.

    Agreed,

Also why doesnt everyone else criticize other fighters not just clottey, how come no one mentions Paul Williams or Castillo when he was a lightweight?

The HBO announcers reported that Clottey was 156lbs on fight night; a mere 9lbs over the limit which is reasonable by comparison to most others.

Pac weighed around 145lbs on fight nights when he was fighting at 130lbs. (And people questioned his jump to light weight):huh

Same day weigh ins, or stipulations on the amount you can put on. Paul Williams, Margarito, Cotto(at 140)... you see /saw the size diferences... it's ridiculous.

Those are NOT welterweights in any era I've seen.
SRL walked around at 155. Duran, well he ate way too much and got fat... So we can't use his binge habits as an example..

    SRR = 150-155lbs.
Willie Pep = Roughly the same
Kid Gavilan = *You guessed it

So tell me, if these legends didn't do it... why do the current welters? Just throw me a bone here...

So nowadays we need bigger guys... to fight in the smaller weight divisions?

    For exactly what reason?

Whilst i agree it is a bit unfair, and wouldn't mind it being addressed, calling it cheating is stupid and offensive. As it is perfectly legal and common, you would be an idiot not to come in over weight on fight night, if you aren't you shouldn't be in that division most likely.

Calling it cheating is unfair on the fighters, who aren't exactly breaking laws in doing it.

Hearns was just a tall skinny fighter. He used to do his weigh-in fully clothed back in the day.
