I've never seen a clear win for anyone when the got hit with harder shots, landed less punches, wasnt the aggressor and had a 20% connect percentage. Can you enlighten me to when this has ever happened without mutiple knock downs?
You've admitted the fight was close but are also saying Clottey was jobbed. Clottey at times whilst he was coming foward, wasn't throwing and found himself on the end of some sharp combinations. He was on his ass at the end of the first and spent one round having his ass handed to him. This coupled with the feigned of injury etc....the right man won the fight.
I wouldnt say he landed the harder shots. The harder shots belong to Cotto and you know it. But he throw the nicer flurries. He WAS KD though...by a jab nonetheless. And had it not been for that headbutt, I think Cotto would've done a much better job. His flurries were cut short because Cotto had to wipe his eye and watch out for those counters. He began to backpedal when he had Clottey hurt because he simply couldnt see. I think it's evident now, that Cotto NEEDS a head trainer. Evangelista...although disfunctional...gave Cotto all the good advice he needed.
He was jobbed. 116-111 and 115-112 is jobbed. Cotto won 8 rounds? Really? Clottey won 2 more rounds then Cotto and with the knock down it was a 114-113 fight. Clottey won atleast 6 rounds in that fight easy. And from 6-10 I thought he might stop Cotto. Sharp combination that largely landed on his gloves. Flash KD, and I believe you are referring to the 6th, where Clottey was still able to counter Cotto off the ropes effectively. He got slammed on his stomach. And showed problems with his legs the rest of the fight. Are you saying that he was faking that? No he didnt. The right man landed the harder punches, more punches and was the aggressor. Clottey basically did everything a fighter has to do to win the fight. ANd he was jobbed by a biased arena.
Cotto was bleeding from his mouth and nose badly. Had swelling under both eyes. Clottey finished the fight without a mark on him. There were several times during the later rounds where even the HBO crew thought Clottey might stop Cotto. Cotto's head as being snapped back and turned every which way. Especially when he was trying to dig the blood out of his eye. He was a sitting duck and evry right hand Clottey through landed. AGain he landed 50 more punches in the fight. It was clear as day. I agree. [quoe]He began to backpedal when he had Clottey hurt because he simply couldnt see.[/quote] When did he have Clottey hurt?
Yes, really. 115-112 is a fair score. :deal Cotto pierced Clottey's guard and picked his shots well. The 6th was a massive round for Cotto and he looked as if he may take Clottey out. Slammed on his stomach?? I think you are reaching here because he was dancing for the rest of the fight and chasing Cotto around the ring. Yes, Clottey was faking whilst on the floor and trying his hardest to get a point taken off Cotto. Even the ref told him to manup and act like a champ. :rofl Cotto landed the harder punches and some of Clottey's agression was ineffective. :deal I guess we'll agree to disagree. :smoke
The consensus seemed to be that Cotto won, I thought he did by a couple of rounds. Close but clear in my book.
No its not. Cotto lost atleast 6 rounds. Even being generous considering most of his punches landed against Clotteys gloves. You are saying Cotto won by 3 points. No no no. Not really. He had a 20% connect percentage as I said earlier. Clottey was playing possum and countered off the ropes effectively. Clottey took Margaritos punches like they were nothing. Of course he was gonna take Cotto's. Another reason why Cotto should have lost. He ran for basically the whole fight. Also, it was clear Clotteys leg was bothering him. He couldnt set to throw his punches, when he did one of his legs almost gave out on a couple of occasions. How was Cotto landing the harder punches when Clottey didnt have a mark on him. Cotto was bleeding from his nose and mouth. Plus swelling under both eyes. And the fact that Clottey snapped Cotto's head back numerous times? Hmm the fight reairs at like 10 this morning. YOu should rewatch it again.
Cotto's notorious for bleeding through his nose...that's nothing new. He was NOT bleeding from his mouth. Stop making **** up to prove a point. He was obviously swelling only in ONE eye that was caused FROM A HEADBUTT from the deep hell of GHANA!...not from punches. Not ONCE did HBO crew ever say "Cotto's hurt"...and its not like he hasnt before and its not like HBO is shy to comment about it either. They just mentioned that Cotto was having a difficulty seeing those right hands and was getting nailed by them. Stop making **** up again. Cant argue there. Not sure about every which way. But he landed some good shots. He Clottey not been KD, I think he would've won the fight. It was a really close fight and I definitely cant say I was satisfied with Cotto tonight, but considering his cut eye and his good performance before that cut I guess it was a decent night for Cotto...I just hope he finds himself a better trainer. 50 more punches huh?!...o wow...you say that **** like its a BIG ****in' difference. It's hardly anything when looked at throughout an ENTIRE fight. Not sure what round...have to watch it again. But he hit him with a nice hard left hook and then IMMEDIATELY backed away to the other side of the ring when Clottey looked like he was trying to gather his **** together...and get his feet back to normal.
Fair enough he's a bleeder. YEs he was, he quite clearly had blood coming out of his mouth. AS to why when his mouth piece was removed it had blood all over it. atsch Both eyes. Not anywhere near the cut, but under. The HBO crew thought Cotto was catching a Margarito like beating. They kept mentioning it, along with Kellerman at one point shouting out that Cotto's head was nearly being ripped off his body. It was clear they thought if Clottey kept up his assault Cotto would be stopped. I wouldnt mind if Clottey was landing jab. But he was landing these punches clean and they were power shots. Alot of big upper cuts. I dont remember it. Clottey comes into fights at 170, if he looks hurt its him trying to recover because he has poor stamina. AS in the 6th round where Cotto hit him with everything and the kitchen sink and he basically shook it off.
i agree, i had the fight close and would have a problem with cotto winning but clottey was jobbed of point deductions from a lot of obvious fouls cotto did to him. If points was deducted clottey could have won and **** that 116-111 score tat is robbery
