Well, you can't fault Floyd for being fortunate. Good thing that deal materialized after he turned down the Margarito fight. It doesn't have any place in this discussion however.
He is correct he isn't a great boxer hell alot of boxers aren't great boxers, but where margarito stands out is his chin and stamina. He maximizes his strengths to the fullest no fault in that.
he had strings atached for baldomir. or do you think goosen is an idiot, and was willing to take a loss just to say he promoted a pbf fight. he got a piece of the delahoya fight.
It's all up to Arum. Obviously Bob doesn't want to match Margarito and Clottey at this juncture. He's just in the process of trying to create them as individual brand names in the sport. Top Rank is definately not going to put Margarito in with Williams or Clottey initially. They want to tap that Mexican fanbase for some capital first. They didn't sacrifice Cotto's undefeated record for nothing.
That's the point I'm getting at. I'm not saying that Margo couldn't beat Williams or Clottey. However, they're clearly tougher matchups than many Margo fans are making them out to be. Otherwise, they would be mentioned as potential opponents. It's no secret why Judah, Mosley, and Hoya are all being targeted. They are all winnable fights for big money.
let's play bob arum. if you controlled 2 of the 4 belts, wold you put both of your fighters in against each other, or would you attempt to match them against the other 2 with the hopes of a total unification bout where you are the only promoter.
