There is no question Cotto is overrated on this board. He is a good fighter who deserves credit for what he's accomplished. But is is extremely overrated because of his "star power" while Clottey has never gotten his due. In due time.
You have a point, but you know i have been a big Cotto fan even before he hit the big time, i was hyping him up before all these 'cottofan1' and 'cotto-no1-P4P' usernames were around i was doing what 'walk with me' is doing with Paul Williams about 4 years ago. That being said I know Clottey is no joke but i'm fairly confident he is going to beat him.
After reviewing many tapes of Clottey. Or whatever is available. I'm not sure how he'll stay away from that body attack. [YT]-JKnWmfGqt4[/YT] In the second round, he kept a high guard but left his mid-section WIDE open. And didn't throw anything when Judah threw SEVERAL jabs. I think Cotto is a more diverse attacker to the head and body. Judah also had his best moments, when he just stood there as opposed to running. I think the outcome of this fight will be determined on how Cotto reacts to Clottey's punches. If he doesnt hit hard, he won't run and take a stand against Clottey to score those body shots. My guess is Cotto will stand to trade a nice flurry, then stick and move before Clottey finally decides to trade. Margarito's success came from punching back while eating about 2 or 3 punches. Clottey doesnt fight the same way. Nor does he pressure the same way either. Clottey comes forward with his guard up, not with punches. Cotto will "run" but the exchanges will be much more easier to pull off. But I have no doubt that Clottey will have his moments. But Cotto's attitude and view of himself has changed as well. I dont think this time he'll underestimate his opponent.
atsch You made me read that whole thing to set me up for that BULL**** at the very end. You owe me 5 minutes of my life back. Who the **** did he underestimate?!?!??!?!?!??!
Of course you were sucking his dick.. i mean promoting him like walk with me is doing for PW It's going to be close and hopefully a good fight.
You know lots about boxing :-( Clottey is not a hard hitting fighter and Cotto doesn't have a glass chin, he got a beatdown from AM, not a one-punch KO. Look at his face, I'm sure Cotto wishes it was a one-punch KO. Clottey might win, sure, but I think it would be more of an accumulated KO or TKO. Otherwise, I see Cotto, with his skills and name, winning enough rounds to get the decision.
Cotto cant loose on the Puerto Rican day I got Cotto by UD...but it wont be an easy fight for him by any means
Clottey will be lucky to win 3 rounds, but if he uses his patent headbutt to open Cotto up, this fight might be a bit closer.....Cotto by wide UD
That part highlighted false...Cotto has made it public that he was very difficult for him to get to Margorito's body....He also said he doesnt like to clinch...I'm not saying Clottey is a form of Margorito because they have different styles...Clottey defense is light years ahead of Margorito and the limited Margorito was able to take away Cotto's best weapon....Do you seriously think Clottey will not will not watch that fight and come up with a game plan??
Cotto wins this by UD, though Clottey winning is not out of the question. This fight should be a perfect test for Cotto to see if he has recovered from the cheating Concreto loss or not.
Like Torres, Malinaggi, Mosley, Branco, Judah, Quintana, Gomez, Jennings have the similar defensive style as Clottey....I got ya!:good
was there a need to be an *******? you know i didn't say that. what i meant was all of them had better defense than Margarito.
