Both great wins, But Pac's K.O. of Hatton gave Pac a cherry on top.

I think a lot of people are confusing "harder fight" with "better win". Tim Bradley would have given Pacquiao a better fight than Hatton did that night, but you can't say it would have been a "better win" for Manny.

The only way a Clottey vote makes sense is if he goes on to have a very impressive career at WW, and to this point, he really hasn't.

Misread the thread my bad, I thought we were saying "Clottey-Hatton who wins".

Hatton is definitely the better win in that case. Clottey was far and away the tougher fight, but Pac KOing a champ at 140 was definitely more impressive than Cotto eeking a MD.

    KO, decision, it doesn't matter.

Any win over Clottey for Cotto is more impressive than a win against Hatton at the time.

Clottey is a tank, and has never been KO, and was only KD'd in like his first fight ever as an pro. That win was much more impressive than Pac beating up on Hatton's slow, unskilled, washed-up ass.

I don't see how anyone can even claim the Hatton victory meant a damn thing. Hatton had looked dreadful since beating Tyszu for the WWE light-welterweight title at Summer Slam that year. He'd been on the verge of defeat against Collazo, gassed against Urango, took a hellacious beating and was completely ineffective against Mayweather, was all over the place against Lazcano and then beat up an always rubbish Malignaggi.

When you see his tactics against Manny, it counts for very little. it's a good name, and Manny was 100% bang on the money with his performance, but Clottey was the better fighter at the same stage and Cotto beating him is a much better win in context.

Manny's was more impressive visually, but told us nothing about Manny above 135.

Hatton was exposed by Collazo, Clottey is a much stronger fighter, is alot heavier, has better defense and boxing skills over all.
Miguel beat Clottey though it was close to me he did a better job than Margarito did.
with that said, Hatton wasnt on his way out, he just hadnt been in there with anybody close to the level of Pac or Floyd, and look what happend when he got there.

You can also throw in Mosley as well, which is a solid win for Cotto....

Cotto's win over Mosley is FAR superior to Manny's win over Hatton, no question. I'd understand these poll results better if those were the two fights the TS had brought up. Hindsight is 20/ 20 and people can say what they want about Hatton in retrospect, but he was still the top dog at 140 (if we leave out Bradley) and had only lost to Floyd.

Clottey is just a skilled contender in an admittedly very talented division. There is no way an SD over him is a "better win" than stopping Hatton, at 140, not 147, in two one-sided rounds.

That "skilled contender" took Cotto to the brink. And a lot of people don;t think Cotto even won that fight... So to call Clottey nothing more than a skilled contender is a far stretch...

The fashion in which pac won vs the way Cotto beat Clottey your right Pacs win in that sense is better.

But lets also be honest, Hatton really didnt have any serious top notch names under his belt even before he lost to Floyd, his win over KT, its a bit over rated, KT was out for a while with injurys and really at the end of his career.

The Collazo fight you could make a case that he lost that and rightfully so. Clottey himself doesnt have many great wins neither, but to me he is the better over all fighter, if you asked me who was the tuffer fighter to beat between Hatton and Clottey I would say Clottey all day, becuase Clottey has the better over all skill set than hatton does.

Now I also consider the size of Clottey as well, he is freakin huge.... and being that he did give Margarito alot of trouble early on...

its not just that he beat Clottey neither, when that cut happend when Miguel became aware of how bad that cut was, in the 4th round he opened up a bit and started stepping on the gas earlier becuase he knew the fight could be stopped.

There were points in that fight in which he was hurting clottey to the head, something you didnt see when Clottey fought Margarito, and also the right back by Clottey, its not like Clottey didnt fight back he did, and he hit Cotto flush with some big shots and it seemed not to bother Cotto very much, these are the same shots Clottey also hit Margarito with and did seem to bother him...

So I really think after having watched that fight again, Cottos chin is under rated, and so is his speed....

Hatton was the better win. Was he the better fighter (between Hatton-Clottey)? I don't think so. Miguel beat a better fighter who was high risk but low reward, while Pacuiao faced a somewhat low risk high reward fighter in Hatton.

This was exactly our point when you guys wanted Margarito to re match him, Now that we accept Clottey as a legit contender suddenly you have a change in heart, funny how it works that way isnt it?
