Damn, Povetkin put on a beating! How Mora survived the 1st round I have no idea. He was supposed to be a guy to give the Teddy Atlas trained Povetkin valuable rounds, but the difference in class was too much - it was easy work and a savage beating. Now that Wladimir is fighting Sacha victim Chambers, Povetkin should have another interim fight, but vs. a solid, durable B level heavy such as Pianeta, Thompson or Austin. He's not quite there yet adapting to a more professional style, but he's improving under Atlas.

Nobody looks good against Joshua Clottey!

Pacquiao however looked darn good on Saturday, and even if it clearly wasn't a shutout and Josh landed more than a few flush shots with his defense working most of the time, no one has ever looked good against him or beat the Ghanaian convoncingly - until now! I had Pac winning 9 rounds to 3, a very clear decision in my book, and in my opinion it was clearly his best ever performance at 147. I knew from the first day fans wouldn't take Clottey seriously nor give Pac proper credit for beating him at all - but damn, Clottey was a real danger, a solid natural welterweight with good skills and physical abilities. Many of us had him beating Cotto, other had him beating Margarito, he was no pushover. But Pac didn't allow Josh to do things more than Clottey was "too passive" "scared" "*****" as many of you state. Clottey is Clottey, adapts well and goes for the openings, watch the Cotto fight, he outlanded the Puerto Rican and give Corrales and Judah a beating. They all give him openings and Clottey was able to take the fight to them, Pac however used controlled, smart aggression and movement masterfully, and gave Josh a boxing lesson.

I'm still not convinced Pac could beat Mayweather, what was working for a passive Clottey - straight right hand early, uppercut late - Floyd is more than capable of doing all 12 rounds, he can be active and aggressive, watch the Corrales fight. Pac however convinced me yesterday - and for the first time really - that he is truly a welterweight now. Not only Zab and Chico, but at times Cotto and Margarito was abused by Clottey's strength, and Pac dealt with it so naturally that now I'd probably pick him over any other welterweight including Mosley, except Mayweather. But I will no longer say Floyd is at a physical advantage - not anymore!

Great job by Povetkin and Pacquiao, nice weekend for boxing!

Mora was knocked out in a minute by sultan Ibragimov. he wasn't someone to get Povetkin rounds, he was someone for Povetkin to look good against. fortunately, he did just that.

Calzaghe-Lacy was a shutout, this one was a competitive one-sided fight. But it doesn't matter, one way or another, Pac dominated, but it worth watching without HBO commentary to get a more objective look. Anyway, I'd love to see Pac losing the election and winning more fights, he's too naïve and good soul for politics and too damn good boxer to walk away.

Your avatar makes me laugh every time :yep

Just watched Povetkin now, and he's looking good. I'd love to see a Povetkin-Chambers rematch, but I expect Wlad might finish Chambers off next weekend. Povetkin-Thompson would be an exciting fight to watch

Nice post. Ya it was very impressive from Pacquiao, completely controlled very big Welter who had never been dominated before. Even without taking into account that he's just come up in weight it's very impressive.

Thompson would be very dangerous but maybe that's what Povetkin needs to reinstate his self-confidence.
