Styles make fights, and generally if you can't outbox a volume puncher, the best way to beat them is to stand your ground and catch them coming in with hard punches.

While Clottey has a very good chin, a high guard solid defense, and fast hooks and uppercuts on the inside, he lacks power, doesn't throw enough straight punches to catch fighters closing the distance, and only fights in spurts, tiring down the stretch.

While Clottey was winning the first part of the fight with maybe only 1 round out of the first 4 going for Margo in the fight, it was Margo's pride that cost him those rounds as he was gunning for Clottey on the inside where Clottey's speed, and defense made him the better fighter.

In the 5th round though, Margarito adjusted and found his punching range at mid-range, and Clottey had nothing to respond with as he is a very limited fighter from a distance as he is more content with covering up then throwing punches. Clottey is a bit stiff as well. He's sort of like an Abraham style fighter, but perhaps with less skills, and for sure with less power.

As I previously stated, Clottey doesn't hit hard enough to stop Margarito, and he doesn't have the workrate to seriously deteriorate Margo's body and to lower his output, and he also doesn't have the skills to outbox Margo.

****, Cotto didn't even have the skills necessary to outbox Margo.

So, this fight looks to be a clear, UD for Margarito unless Clottey miraculously knocks Margarito out which I just don't see happening.

Considering that Cintron couldn't put Margo away, and he was the consensus hardest puncher in the division, until Margo's chin gives way, the only way to beat him is by outboxing him or outworking him, which I thought was impossible until Paul Williams both outworked him and outboxed him.

This means that there are probably only two fighters that have a chance of beating Margarito, Mayweather and Paul Williams.

    Margarito has earned Mayweather.

Either way, Clottey is not the man, and while I would like to see this fight because the first one was entertaining, I would rather watch Margo fight Floyd because neither Floyd nor Margo are going to get any better.

Considering Floyd promised Margo a fight, Floyd should give him one.

Please do not bring Cintron into a conversation involving Clottey. Cintron has no defense, a shaky chin and questionable heart.

Clottey is hungry. I think a rematch between these two would be a good fight, and I think the fight would be a lot closer then you'd expect.

    Clottey UD.

Clottey is not consistent enough to beat Margarito. He doesn't fight all 12, and he spends way too much time waiting. Notice how Clottey didn't say the name "Margarito" when Kellerman asked him who he wanted to fight next. Clottey don't want it with Margarito. He ain't ready for war. Noooooo.

Ironic, but incorrect. The reason he didn't say Margarito because in the question Kellermen said " Margarito's camp has been quoted as mentioning Zab Judah's name but not yours as a next possibe next fight. Are you worried that you won't get to fight Margarito and if he doesn't give you the rematch who would you want to fight?"

    To which he replied Berto.

Based off of Margarito-Cotto and Clottey-Judah
I would pick Maragrito to win a decision in a rematch.

Based off of Clottey-Margarito I, and buying into Clottey's excuse for losing (broken hand), I would probably pick Clottey to win a close decision

Yep, I just checked the tape. True. Kellerman led him away from making a plain statement.

It's not like this is anything new in boxing, why are people always shocked that fighters come in significantly heavier on fight night??

Margarito is not that dumb not to learn from their first fight. And besides the so called experts here :D . . . failed to mention that Margarito was coming in from a 10 months layoff in that fight with Clottey that's why the guy is rusty and his timing is well off in the early part of the fight.

Next time they fight . . . expect Margarito to start early . . . and finish off Clottey within 9 rounds.

I don't think Clottry is the biggest threst to Margo, I think it's Paul Williams and Mayweather if he were to come back from retirement. They're the ones with the biggest chances at defeating Margo.

Clottey is overrated by people on this board. He doesn't throw punches, he isn't extremely powerful, and his defense is overrated. Any of the top WW could beat him just by outworking him, because if you come to punch in bunches he is just going to stay still and put his hands up.

Some of ya'll who are picking Clottey really don't understand boxing very well.

I'm sorry. I haven't heard one good reason. The hand breaking **** was bull****. Don't ever bring that up again.
