The body uppercut combo's Vs. Cotto also a thing of beauty. Too bad it's not in his nature to go all out.
All of the above. He will be remembered as a Top Rank contender. He is really good but no real fighter heart, he had alt of talent but that can only get you so far when you face certain fighters.. Aggressive heads up guys are not a good look for him..
Winning the IBF welterweight title against Judah. Yes, seemingly every top fighter has beaten Judah, and it was a "paper" title, but every boxer dreams of winning a world title and Clottey won one.
I think his fight with Cotto would be his most remember fight... After his performance against Manny it has hurt his image a lot.
Many good fighters almost beat Margarito in the first few rounds... ...so no..that is not something unique, special, or extraordinary. I think Clottey is a tough fighter, who's greatest accomplishment was being a solid high end B level gatekeeper. Ike Quartey would knock Clottey out.
Probably his win over Zab Judah...I can't say the Margarito fight cause he lost it, and definitely not the cotto fight because he kept his foot off the gas in the latter portion of that fight.....
Clottey's great moment were his first 4 rounds against a naturally slow-starting Margarito, who would have beaten Clottey injured hand or not IMO. Lets not forget that I believe Margarito had an injury as well. He could have beaten a one-eyed Cotto had he pushed for it a bit more, but he didn't.
