Clottey tends to wait, that's how he is and always was and only opens up when he thinks it's the right time to do so. Pacman never gave him the angles he needed to open up and constantly kept throwing with insane speed and getting out, never stood flat like Cotto did against Clottey to take punches in return.

Cotto, DLH and Hatton all tried at least, Clottey didn't want to try or take a risk at all and was wobbled late in the fight then decided to go back in his turtle defense and heavy-bag mode. I agree that Hatton, DLH and Cotto all did far better, all three tried different strategies that gave us answers we didn't know about Pac. DLH tried to use his size and Pac showed it did nothing, Hatton tried to use his wrestling tactics and overpower Pac the opposite happened and Cotto tried to counter and box smart, he got overpowered and outlanded. Clottey played a heavy-bag and was at least, in comparison to the rest, successful with his plan, all they had to do was stamp his rather large forehead with "Everlast" and they would've been more honest.

I'm with you on this one. Clottey at his worst performed better than Oscar, Hatton and Cotto. Oscar didn't fight back either then quit. Hatton couldn't squat a fly. Cotto ran after five rounds. Yet people are quick to lambast Clottey for making Manny look like a fool for shooting empty target. Clottey's mistake is, he resigned too early knowing he couldn't do anything to turn things around in his favor.

it is hard to compare fights and say what is better. Cotto had more damage than Clottey and so did Pacman. Going rounds does not mean the fight was harder or great, it just means the guy was not willing to leave himself as open. If most fighters at the beginning of round one just started to brawl. most fights wouldn't go 2 rounds.

    Right then...

    well, lets break this down.

Miguel Cotto threw 597 punches against Pac, and landed about 172.....
Joshua Clottey threw roughly 399 punches against Pac, and landed about 108...

Cotto warred with Pac for 6 rounds, and actually won a round
Clottey hid for 12 rounds, and arguably didnt win 1 minute of the entire half hour in the ring with Pac

And if the numbers dont speak for themselves, the fight does... Cotto put up a spirited effort before being broken, and gave Pac the hardest tussle hes had since JMM (including the clottey fight)

And you ask me who id rather be? I would rather be the one that went in that fight and tried to win, id rather be the guy not putting 'please forgive and forget' for his performence, id rather be the guy that went out and got beat up for TRYING TO FIGHT, then not getting beat up because i hid my face for most of the fight. I am not attacking clotteys character, but i am expressing my opinion on his performence.... and IMO, to even compare it to Cotto's is insane, or even do David Diaz's for gods sakes, lord knows diaz was completely outgunned in that fight, and it would have been easy for him to sit back and cover up for 90% of the fight, but he didnt. he went out there and tried to make something happen, and in defeat earned respect. Clottey, a huge welterweight, didnt even give himself THAT. Of course Cotto got thrashed and Clottey didnt, its hard to get thrashed when you never try....

Clottey is a good fighter, but the Pac fight showed once again why he cant win the big one, and why Margarito, Cotto, and Pac all beat him. And as far as this fight, not going out of his comfort zone as usual to try and make something happen will actually hurt him more then he knows perhaps, if this reputation hes getting starts to proceed him even further.

Atleast Hatton and Cotto gave it their all and came to fight. Clottey doesnt have a warriors heart and I pretty much compare his performance to DLH going out on his stool, however Clottey wasnt dehydrated and past his prime.

You giving those punch stats were completely Bias.....You only gave half... What about the 336 punches Pac landed on Cottos face what about the two times he put Cotto on the canvas and 79 of the punches cotto landed were jabs. Obviously most of you guys never boxed a day in your life. You just think you can put your gaurd up and stand in front of someone and everything will be kool... I would love to see you try that with me or anybody else half decent...

    Pac 73-127 Hatton 18-78 2rds

    Pac 224-585 DLH 83-402 8rds

    Pac 366-780 Cotto 172-597 12rds

    Pac 246-1231 Clottey 108-399 12rds

Clottey landed at the same rate as DLH and Hatton..... And Cotto landed 3 more punches a round than Clottey but those were jabs. Because he landed 4 more jabs a round than Clottey...... End of story......

Pac fans are just mad Pac looked bad throwing punches at elbows and forearms....

Cotto landed the most punches and was the most competitive at a point in the fight. He actually tried to win it, he gave the best performance.

Cotto tried to win. clottey did not. clottey sat there like a duck waiting to get tagged. it was pretty sad actually. this is the fight of your career and you dont even try to take a risk. hatton got caught clean but it wasnt cause he wasnt trying to punch. de ha hola was a corpse but he did attempt to try to get in there and rumble. he was just a shell of his former slef. clottey had a chance and didnt do squat. not to mention he had the full welterweight limit to do damage.

Cotto was scared to load up and threw half hearted punches all night. The difference is clottey had better strategy. He figured out that pac is invincible when in his jumping in and out rhythm trading and cotto didn't. When pac get's into that rhythm you have to stop and wait till he calms down. You trade with pac then you get murdered and I don't care who you are around that weight.
