I don't think you quite understand how it works. No one said anything about puppets, but I do know that asimple call to Congressman Bennie Thompson who is chair of the House Homeland Security Cmte would go a long way towards getting it taken care of. And if Arum is friends with an ex-pres it would be nothing for him to contact the appropriate people.

It really isn't all that complicated. And although a passport is a little different from a temporary work visa, the fact that passports can get rushed for a price, a work visa isn't an insurmountable task.

I worked on "The Hill" on the Congressional side for two straight summers as a legal intern. Trust me when I say that based on the limited info that's available, someone really dropped the ball, or didn't care.

I recently renewed my Mexican passport here in the US and it took me about 3 hours to get it.
So no it does not take long to get.

I'm pretty sure the article I read said Arum is a Democrat. It talked about how it might be a little awkward for a liberal to be in the same booth as Bush during the Super Bowl. I doubt they became stead fast friends that day.

Have they tried the Canada or Mexico option and just walk across the border?

That Democrat/Repub **** is sometimes just a bunch of posturing. Most of these guys except for the real hardcore assholes can go have a drink together after session. And it certainly doesn't matter when it comes to sports. I read it on an article linked by someon here that Arum and Bush were supposed to be friends. Even if they aren't close friends, it doesn't take much of an effort to get in touch with the right Congressman in Washington who are on certain committees, like Homeland Security.

I'm not saying Arum is to blame, and I'm not saying he has Bush on speed dial where he could just make it happen. All I'm saying is that a man in his position has waaaaaaaay more than the necessary means to get that temporary visa taken care of. And after all, Clottey is one of his fighters too.

The article I read made it sound like they met for the first time at the Super Bowl. Don't know, don't care. It doesn't impact my life one damned bit.

What a farce. All this talk of the psychological implications and potential fallout of Pacquiao having to draw a little blood, and Joshua Clottey doesn't even have his goddamn trainer. Clottey gets babysat by that dude, too. He practically had to hold Joshua and rock him like a baby after the first round knockdown in the Cotto fight. He was like; "..It's ok. It's alright! You'll be fine! You're ok! Look at me! You'll be ok!.." :rofl

well, its another perfect excuse to one of pac's many wins: "Oh, Clottey didn't have his trainer" like it would have made a difference...

not all countries get treated the same for visa time. it can be as short as one/two weeks and as long as 6 months. And it should be even harder now with all whats happeneing these days, people are more cautious after that christmas bomber ****.

I'm not sure why you think arum has such powers to grant or help granting someone a visa. I doubt that even former president Bush (who've been friends with Bob for a whole day!) can pull that.

Obama's aunt is getting deported for fks sake. if the fking president of the united states can't pull tricks like that, what makes you think arum can?

Totally different scenarios, with Obama's Aunt. Apples and Oranges. We're talking about someone who is not attempting to live in the U.S. but wants a temporary visa to work here.

And again, this thread deteriorated into a discussion about what Bob Arum could do. That wasn't even the point. The point is that Clottey feels confident (as any fighter should) and that his trainer is not here. I belive someone asked me in another thread if his trainer had made it here yet.
