Boxing News did a feature called 'Latvian Lemmings' which exposed how Latvian journeymen padded their records with fake fights at the above venue. When they then travel abroad for their next fight they are more than often stopped in 1. On Boxrec you will see the amount of Latvians who have victories at this venue, but get stopped everywhere else.
I haven't read the article (in fact, I can't even find it), but I think it's just really weak matchmaking. They have anyone who's halfway decent just fight the house fighters, who have no experience and seem to be guys practically pulled off the streets. A lot like how the Thai guys have tons of club fights against guys making their pro debuts and pad their records that way.
anychance of posting a link or just giving us the site ? ive never heard a site just called boxing news
Post a link. And I agree with the second poster, its poor match making, South American Promoters do it all the time, they get a fighter a good 20 wins and send them up to the States and they get shredded by someone that hasn't been fighting bums
Sorry 'Boxing News' is the boxing trade paper here in the UK. This article was in their 15th January edition. I have since checked their website, but the article does not appear to have been put online http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/
