He fought in Oklahoma City on a card with Yori Boy Campos, Samuel Peter - a local fighter, at the time, that I had an association with was on the undercard- when that circus was on the road. The local fighter sold $6000 worth of tickets, which helped the local promoter make a few bucks on the live show.
The guy that was managing Peters, Mayorga and Yori Boy is a real boxing character and part of his schtick is selling a persona that is very different than his true story. He is the stereotypical boxing guy that promises the moon, gets everyone else to spend their money and, at the end, he leaves with fat pockets and everybody else loses.
In this case, the fights were being sold ppv in Nicaragua so all the pads in the corner had Nicaragua on them. During the week before the fight, Mayorga asked the local promoter to borrow a car. And he sold the car.

I remember Cory Spinks coming out with Nelly for the Judah rematch and having a big dance routine during his walk out. That night didn't end well.

Al Ettore was saying how Louis was overrated. How he was exposed by Schmeling and how he was going to knock him out with his right hand.
He also said Louis took too long to finish an over the hill Jack Sharkey.
Ettore was counted out in the 5th.

Jab Zudah was a touch on himself, wasn’t he?

And after KT kindly choreographed the Funky Chicken Dance for Zab, Judah began crying for a rematch - a rematch that he wasn’t interested in before the fight.

Post fight, KT referenced Judah’s rejection of a rematch clause - and in response to Judah’s request for same AFTER the fight, KT duly said NO, qualifying his answer by saying “It’s a boomerang” - meaning Zab’s pre-figh answer to the same question coming right back at him.

A bit of the old Joe Louis there - not too many words but make ‘em count and make ‘em quotable.

    Great quote Pedro.

    Hadn’t heard/read that before.

Joe looked fantastic against Ettore - Ettore’s pre-fight smack probably wasn’t a good idea, perhaps giving The Bomber that extra incentive to see him off that much more quickly.

Just talked to Cory about this today. He laughed about it but it was a St.Louis party for that entrance!
