S,you stimulate my boxing mind, like no other. I felt sad upon finishing your last chapter of the Cocoa Kid. As JFK said "life is not fair ",as proven by the story of the great career of Cocoa Kid..Thanks S...:hi:
w Thanks, Burt. It's a poignant story that showcases the tragic side of boxing. Cocoa Kid paid a heavy price, yes, but would he be the subject of conversation in the 21st century had he decided to become a doorman in Atlanta? ------------ I hope that you all caught the last comment at the end of the credits about the IBHOF.
Great series, enjoyed every installment immensely. Last article really brings home the harsh realities of boxing and life in general i suppose. The work you've done to highlight his boxing and life story and resting place really deserves congratulations.
Fitting end to a great series. Really shows the hardness of the boxing game, doesn't it? No-one should live like the Kid did at the end of his days.
His sacrifices were immense. Realizing that he was facing a heavier, priming Archie Moore after having been diagnosed with dementia is a frightening thought. Him lying there out cold is a bit haunting in retrospect.
Here I claim a pure heart. Enhancing his standing was not my intention. 'Just wanted the truth of him. Looking back on who he was and what he did and what he sacrificed makes me adamant about his being inducted. Anyone who fails to vote him in next year deserves a back-hand.
I hear you there, I'm just saying. Did you read the thread i linked a while back? Did you see Senya's rating of CK in there? Rate anyone higher as a pure researcher on this forum? Senya rates CK higher now or I don't know a thing.
Yes, yes, I saw that and commented on it! Senya was on this thread early. I be curious to know if he's amended his views, which were not unreasonable at the time.
