Over a year's worth of irrational animosity and lame posturing from Jorge only to let his worst enemy backpack him for 5 rounds. I love it.
Masvidal has always been a crafty veteran BUT he's never been an elite fighter like all the casual hype suggested. He really hit lightning in a bottle with the knee against Askren. Askren would win that fight 9 times out of 10. Fighters like Nate DIVA Diaz, Nick DIVA Diaz, Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor above 145 have always been overrated but thats the casual fans for you. You can fool the dumb casuals but the hardcore fans see through the smoke and mirrors. Anyone with half a brain knew Colby would comfortably beat Masvidal. Take away the trash talking pre fight it really was a lackluster fight to headline a ppv imo.
Went the way I though it would. The X factor for me was if Colby would forego his wrestling to make it a more exciting fight - like Usman did in his rematch with Masvidal - but he probably knew from all their sparring that that was too risky and settled for the W in the manner he knows best. Colby and Usman are the Whitaker and Adesanya of 170. Hard to see anyone else get through. Might be Chimaev, but he's way too untested to say for sure yet.
Masvidal came up against a better all round fighter than himself and the loss was inevitable, if you are in the octagon with great striking up against a very good all rounder and you don't ping him with that shot an get him out of there, you're beat
