COLDWELL BOXING WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE POTENTIAL FIGHT OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE

Curtis Woodhouse vs Dale Miles: A fight that has the word “classic” written all over it.

Yesterday, Coldwell Boxing won the purse bids to host this British light welterweight title eliminator, which will be held on June 8th at the Magna in Rotherham.

After a period of frustration and inactivity, Woodhouse 16-3 (11) is thrilled to be only one fight away at fighting for the British title.

“This is why I got into the game, to be British champion. I’m absolutely delighted. After the Jason Cook and Paul McCloskey fights falling through I thought I killed a black cat or something but Dave (Coldwell) came in with a good offer.

“Everything’s fallen into place for this fight. I’ve got plenty of notice and I’m fighting at my spiritual home where I’ve had five fights, five wins and five knockouts.”

Standing in the way of the 31-year old is a 5’ 11” southpaw who has lost only one fight in 13 and knocks people out for fun.

“This will be a fight that I have to bite down on the gumshield to get through,” declared Woodhouse.

“Dave described him (Miles) to me as an English version of (Antonio) Margarito. It’s a fight that excites me, that puts a bit of fear into me which helps when you’re going for that morning run. You want those feelings.

“Anything less than 100% from me and I’m getting knocked out. This could go one round or ten rounds and it’s a fight I can’t afford to lose.

“I’ll refuse to take a backward step and to beat me he’s going to have put me out cold.”

With the fight still a few months away, promoter David Coldwell has been blown away by the early reaction.

“We’ve been inundated with calls for tickets and they’re not even on sale yet!”

“This is a genuine 50-50 fight and it’s going to be a fight of the year contender, their styles can’t help but gel.

“This is the kind of fight, that if it was on television you would tune in to watch. We’ve got two honest fighters who have had to get respect the hard way.

Isn't Miles promoted by Matchroom? If so can't you use them to get this fight on Sky? Should be a quality scrap!

Isn't Woodhouse under contract with FW?

With it being on a Friday night could this be on Boxnation?
