Obituaries of major figures are usually prepared years in advance of the subject's death, and added to over time with new events. For someone like Foreman, the main bits of his life's story have been settled for many years. I imagine that anything published with Hart's byline over the weekend was written 10+ years ago. Occasionally obituaries are published under the byline of writers who themselves died several years before - a bit jarring if you're familiar with the writer, but makes perfect sense.
Along with Steve Bunce and Frank Warren one of the last links to a great era. A quality journalist rest in peace sir.
Always loved the way he stood by his opinion no matter how much the British boxing promoters (Warren in particular) would get annoyed at him for not backing their fighter. RIP
I grew up in the 80s, as a teenager, reading the pieces in the Sunday Paper from Colin Hart, usually tucked away 6, 7 or 8 pages in from the back page. Probably the 1st boxing writer I came across. Seemed to be wonderful fairy tale imagery inside my head when converting his words into vivid pictures of boxing action. Himself, Harry Carpenter (BBC) and ITV with Jim Rosenthal paved the way and educated myself into a boxing fan, all in the age of just 3 (soon to become 4) TV Channels. R.I.P. Sir.
