:good Couldn't have summarized it better myself. I've said it before that the punch that Rivera landed on him would have dropped many other welters. Since then Berto has been tagged with the "glass chin" label. I think the real reason why he's so heavily criticized is the fact that he regularly fights on HBO and people believe that he's not good enough or proven enough for that kind of exposure. He's one of the most entertaining fighters and he's young so people should just be patient and allow to to develop.
I don't think anyone wants to see Berto fail..I think people expect perfection out of every fighter, regardless their talent level. Expectations on this board can be ridiculous at times but that's the nature of the boxing fan. If Berto isn't the image of a perfect fighter people will inevitably wait for the bottom to fall out. It's the equivalent of when a fighter loses his first fight...they become "Exposed". If they're not perfect, they're not worth it..basically.
Berto's chin is certainly very questionable, but I don't think Collazo has the power to take advantage of it.
Collazo's going to lose.....period, anyone with half a brain can predict the odds are in favor of Berto, this isn't even a good test, it's just an obvious win....especially after watching his last fight collazo brings nothing to the table that forbes doesn't....except for the fact that he's willing to trade more, which is a weakness since he's fighting, a younger, stronger and faster fighter like honestly, he's not slicker then forbes and forbes couldn't do anything against him.....he was on his guard most of the fight just looking to go the distance and you think COLLAZO gonna win?..... TKO Berto
I can go with that. IMO a guy being caught early in his career and going down does not make his chin questionable. It is when he is under fire against a world class fighter is when I have to judge. Dlh went down against Campanella I believe, and his chin has been concrete ever since. It's when you can't get up, or are moving around like a ship without a rudder, and when you get hit again, you are in worlds of trouble is when I question a guys chin. Does Judah have a glass jaw? No. Kostya was the only one to make him do the Harlem shake. Cotto really punished Judah, and broke him down. His chin was not a factor in that fight. Ali went down a couple of times before he won the title. To early for me to judge the guys chin...
In my earlier post I said Collazo would win. Having seen clips of the 8 rounder this week, it could be said that we saw the best of Collazo against Ricky Hatton. Maybe THAT was his best performance??
Collazo schools him but not sure if it would be a KO, he certainly possess the counter ability to score a flash KD Collazo teaches Berto a lesson
Collazo has been in the ring with fighter who have more clout than Berto could only dream of having ... he also has had the luxury of beating a champion for his strap (Rivera) Berto has only went 12 rounds (1) once and that was in his last fight against Forbes ... Collazo can match him in speed and the ability to throw straight punches ... Collazo is real cagy and with use his experience and skill to either get the stoppage or a decision. The knock on Berto is that he hasn't been taken into those deep waters by a guy who can bang back.
but can Collazo really bang? Louis could potentially blow the fight IMO if he decides to stand and trade with the younger, physically stronger Berto granted early on Collazo's experience will help him but what hurts Luis's chances at beating Berto is the fact that he hasn't really been in there with anyone good since his loss to Shane Mosley. and that could play a factor as Collazo's spent 2008 pretty much tuning up so to speak. however either man winning wouldn't be a surprise to me.
