Selcuk Aydin looks decent with big big power! Interesting to see what he can do up at world level. Callazo would have been a good test. He's more or less gate keeper up at welterweight.
For Chrissakes, if it's not on the well-known fighter's turf and he's getting robbed? Somebody had to won the bid, what's the guarantee of Aydin getting fair scores if it was the other way around? On the other hand, and I picked Collazo too, why the freakin' hell is he participating in a purse bid if he "can't make 147 anymore?". Or he can't make 147 on hostile territory? It was a ***** move, just like when Dawson pulled out AFTER Team Diaconu beat Shaw's purse bid.
I think Collazo checked out Aydin on youtube, and got frightened! The kid has monster power for his size, and with home advantage with a hostile atmosphere, Collazo would have to really show no sign of nerves. [ame]http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUpwnP_slcw&feature=related[/ame]
I dunno man, Collazo was desperate for any decent fight he could get, ecspecially with any sort of "title" on the line. I feel his reasoning for backin out didnt sound like complete bs, he had a pretty damn good reason why with weight and almost taking on debt with this one. But like you said, why he was involved in the purse bid if he knew he couldnt make 147 is a good question...:huh
This was a meaningful fight too bad its off. Interesting to see who Aydin fights instead. I agree with those saying Collazo needs to be more active. Atleast at 154 he'll have plenty of opponents to choose from.
Yea, hopefully he'll be able to finish the year strong. If he hasnt lost too much with inactivity, maybe he can shake things up at lmw.
I say he should try for Angulo, realistically speaking with Cintron fighting Paul Williams and Sergio potentially tied down with a Pavlik rematch Angulo wouldn't be a bad fight for Collazo to take. and for what its worth Angulo does hold and interim alphabet belt.
I see Collazo vs Angulo going one of two very different ways: 1. IF, Collazo comes in at 154 in awesome form, he COULD box his way to a comfortable decision, only because I think Collazo has a pretty good chin. 2. Collazo gets brutalized and ko'd in around the 8th.
yeah it'll probably go like that. but what are the chances Collazo can fight awesome after all this layoff? on paper I'd say the two match up pretty well with each other and stylistically speaking it def looks like a match up that could easily be a co-feature on a Boxing After Dark card. regarding Collazo, between losing close fights and all this inactivity he really is pissing away his career. IMO he almost needs to go for a big name next .. because the other big names at 154 (Williams, Martinez, Cintron) have no real reason to fight Collazo Angulo himself isn't established as a big name .. so maybe Collazo gets to fight vs El Perro?
