Really good documentary about Dempseys roots, and how he developed as a fighter.

    I don't think it's Greb...could possibly be a midget. Jock Malone perhaps?

He looks too small to be Greb.

There's also more sparring footage at 20:00

Nice clips of one of the all time greats!!! Met him at his restaurant not long before it closed in 1974. A great moment...

Very good question. I'll look into it.

Dempsey sparring vs Big Bill Tate. Worth a view

It could be Jack McAuliffe, 5'6" lightweight. He sparred with Dempsey in 1919 and again in 1921. McAuliffe was quick on his feet in his prime, and perhaps quick enough to spar with the best for short durations in older age.

Maybe Klompton or Chuck would know? I doubt its Greb, but if it was that would be too funny! I'll send the clip to the best Dempsey historian I know and see what he thinks.

Met him at a Dennys cocktail lounge a few months back. Stingy *******. Poor tipper. But I shook the hand that shook the world.

Dempsey sure was quick one. Notice the movement and defense.

The guy he was sparring with at the 20:00 mark could be Martin Burke, who was about 6'3" tall.

Dempsey sparred with lots of famous guys. I've got him on DVD with Max Schmeling.
