Its the only way I can see people giving Cotto rounds for example like 3 and 4 from the fight. Cotto threw more punches and threw hard combos but the majority were not landing on Clotteys chin or body in the mentioned rounds. Some got threw but the rest landed on his arm and elbows, and Clottey landed way more clean punches yet people and judges gave these rounds to Cotto.

So whats your take on giving a guy rounds for being more aggressive but not landing as many clean punches as the other guy?

i'd award clean punches all the way,
i can understand tho that the agressive guy is more likely to land as he has a higher punch output and thats how judges opinions are swayed. They dont have the benefit of re-watching b4 scoring

Are you still crying??? There were a lot of clean punches too. Clottey saying "NO" was just a signal that Cotto punches were hurting him. Punches in the arms???? YES!! They are ****ing important!!!! Cotto made Branco quit by hitting him in the shoulder. Hit those arms until the opponent can't raise them anymore.

I do that it's possible to be effective even if you are not landing in what is generally considered scoring areas for 2 reasons.

    1. This is not the amatuers you don't have a white part of the glove that needs to touch a certain part of the opponent. The objective is to hurt the other guy and if you are hurting him by hitting him on the arms and elbows you should get some credit for it.

    2. Offense is often the best defense. If your opponent is too busy blocking and avoiding your punches to do any work of his own then that's better than having a tight defense IMO. You are still not getting hit but you are putting a little bit of hurt on him unlike blocks where you are the one taking the damage and your arms and elbow.

Now obviously clean punching is preferableso if a guy is having a bunch of his punches land on arms and elbow while is opponent is landing shots on the traditional scoring areas, I'm not going to score the round for him.

Wow, I'm sick of people thinking Cotto's punches just landed on the arms and gloves because Clottey holds his arms right up over his face. It's an effective defense with wide coverage but Cotto was finding gaps without too much difficulty.

Close fight and a SD. Quit ****ing crying.

Yeah, Cotto was landing shots around and through Clottey's guard that were supposedly "blocked."

^^^ Exactly. Cool photos by the way.

Those kind of situations went on all night. I'm not denying Cotto caught a beating off Clottey but sadly Clottey only won ~6 rounds and got KD so the right man won a split decision. Apart from the 6th (and 1st), Cotto squeaked his rounds while Clottey won his fairly well. Still, we score by rounds and Cotto won. No doubt.

sorry i had to post again, those shots above are not clean shots and would do zero damage. look at where clottey's arms are flexed at. he is tight as hell, cotto aint doing **** with both of those shots. cmon atuan, stop being a ****ing hugger. clottey won the fight quit making excuses. the best judge of the three had clottey 114/113. cotto was running scared the whole fight. cotto was hurt the whole fight. cotto was getting outlanded (which means outboxed) the whole fight. clottey was landing the cleaner, more effeedctive blows. clottey had the better defense (did you see the punchstats?). clottey was the aggressor so ring generalship goes to him. how the **** do you give this to cotto? how the **** do you not clamour for a ****ing rematch? how the **** are you a fan of boxing?

    LMFAO.

You have NO CREDIBILITY ON THIS BOARD. No one finds your posts insightful, decent or indeed even clearly readable. 10-9 Clottey in the 6th? What fight were you watching? The only logical conclusions are that:

    a) You have not watched the fight.
    b) Your take on the fight is based solely on one discussion with Clottey's mum.
    c) You are suffering from an incurable rotting of the brain.
