What are your views if I combine boxing core workouts and jumroping, running, and other similar boxing exercises with mma strenght workouts to make a routine? SO mma routines and boxing routines combined. As far as ive experienced from wrestling boxing is just a bit lighter then my wrstling routines. Wrestling we warm up with 4 miles then sprint 1/4th of a mile 8 times then bear crawl and crab walf half a mile. and a bunch of bleachers and push ups and sit ups and sprawls in a heated wrestling room! What do you think about this?
In my opinion you should keep to the boxing only type of routine. These workouts are designed to help assist with your footwork, punching speed, power etc... a wrestling training routine is specifically designed to condition you for wrestling. I'm not saying this type of training will hinder you, but if, like me, you don't have all day to train then you should stick with what is proven to work.
I would keep the sprints and running, toss the bear crawls and crab walks. Keep the bleachers and pushups, toss the sprawls. Also I don't see the point in the room being heated unless you are trying to cut weight.
There are very few exercises (if any) that are unique to boxing. If you train seperate sports keep the training seperate. There will be overlap in conditioning from one sport to the other but each requires unique attributes which require unique training. The thing about training in a heated room is idiotic. There's no benefit from sweating more and dehydrating, if anything it'll downgrade your training. It's like running in a sweat suit.... pointless.
