    Hey sdsfinest :good

Well i kinda can see where others would be coming from and if you dont mind ill play devils advocate and give you why.

Before Mosley vs Margarito, Margarito was #1, while Mosley was #4.....
Margarito was 1 because he beat cintron x2, clottey, cotto
Mosley was #4 because of his other history, including dominating collazo (#8 at the time) and having a close competitive fight with prime cotto (#1 at the time they fought)

So when Mosley beat Margarito, it wasnt simply 'you beat the man you become the man', it was the guy at #4 beating #1, with #2 having left the division (williams) and #3 having JUST lost.... so in a way it was the natural progression of things (adding to that it wasnt even a competetive fight but a domination and destruction)

So i dont see it as you beat the number 1 you become number 1... to me its not like a belt, you earn your spot over time, you move up a few, then you move up a few, and then after awhile you become number one.

As of right now, Berto is ranked 7th in the division.... his wins have been a controversial win over collazo (the same guy mosley completely dominated when he was 4th) Urango, who is not a ranked welterweight, and forbes, another non top 10 welter....

Should he beat Mosley, yes i can see the case being made that he should perhaps be number one, but i can also see why someone wouldnt, and maybe have him at number 2 or 3 based on his 'overall'.

Because like i said, Mosley didnt just spring all the way up the rankings because of one win, he was already in the top 4, and with 2 of the three having just lost, and the other one not fighting in the division anymore, he was elevated to number 1 as a combination of things including his work as a whole within the division.

Berto, for all of his talent and luster, hasnt really done a whole lot, and is currently not a top 5 welter, i can see how someone would not place him at number one just on the back of this win.

That being said, i am simply playing devils advocate.... and wouldnt have a problem with it. Mosley is indeed considered the man in the division, and although i dont always agree with 'to be the man you have to beat the man', i can see why someone would also place him at number one considering the others in the top 5 being inactive or having just lost.

sorry if this is a bad post, lol... bottom line i guess is some wont feel that one big win like that will be enough to spring him 6 spots up to number one, and mosleys climb to 1 was more complete and he was already in the top 4 of the division, and was able to get to 1 as much by the guys in front of him falling as his win over margarito.

    Just IMO

I welcome ANY topic in boxing not related to Floyd and Pac right now. Yes, it's a relevant topic, but a novice one.

It seems to me that too many have written off Andre Berto as well. Shane's age will have to catch up to him sometime. And I don't see any reason to overlook Berto whatsoever. I'm not sure where people are coming from with that one. I give Mosley the slight edge but I'm surely not going out of my way to put any money on it.

You got that right. This fight should be every bit as intriguing as Mayweather-Pacquiao, maybe much more.

I just can't see Berto beating Mosley. I see Shane stopping him late rds but it won't be the end of Berto who still has time on his side. Full prosp to both for making the fight unlike a pair of brats in the same division.

No, he wont. But he will definetely win over some new fans and put himself in the mix of elite welters.

since when does making a pick mean rooting against someone??? :huh

Shane did a good job against Margo, he didn't allow him to get anything off, he clinched very effectively. Berto knows how to play that game. Berto is the faster man here and he's gonna get his off in the inside. Shane is going to get touched, he's definitely not gonna get dropped, but he will get touched and we will see him age as the rounds progress. My money is on Berto

Why the hell is everyone voting no,if Berto by some miracle beats Mosley, then hes def the number 1 WW in the world.. why? because Shane Mosley is currently the number 1 WW in the world,Hes the welterweight King, not Pac or Floyd..Sugar Shane is.
