I will not vote but i think the reason is that Mosley is #1 CONTENDER, not the champ, it's vacant. So that might be the reason Berto wont be # 1. Lets face it behind Mosley is Pac, the P4P#1, and FMJ, the former P4P #1 WW lineal champion. While Berto has what? A close fight with Collazo? He still doesn't have the resume and longetivity to make a clear-cut claim especially against such ATG-lock fighters.

So how is it ok for Shane to take the number one spot from Tony "cuz he beat Tony who was #1" but if Berto beats Shane than he don't get the #1 spot? Shane is #1 and Berto beat him (hypothetical) so why wouldn't Berto be "#1"..

BTW BY #1 I MEAN "OFFICIAL RANKING"...

If i remember clearly there was a dispute on that since PWill also beat Marg. And prior to the fight Cotto and Marg were #1 & 2, so it's logical the winner of that will be #1. After Shane beat Margo it's him and Pwill who has the claim and i know there was countless debate on that. Pwill clarified the situation when he moved up in weight, in effect abandoning his claim to top spot.

I'm a fan of Berto, but I voted no because I don't think Mosely is The Man at 147. As good as Mosely is, he can still be beat. The work that Cotto did against Mosely proved that Shane could be outboxed, even by a fighter who doesn't have the speed or skills he does. Defense was never Shane's forte.
As fast and hard-hitting as Berto is, Mosely could have loads of trouble with him. If Berto fights a disciplined fight, I see him as the winner.
With this all being said, I still think the Floyd Mayweather is the best Welterweight in the world.

Cotto beat Mosely and Pac beat Cotto. Pac is #1.

    Void is #1 at avoiding.

If Berto is indeed able to upset Mosley, he still wouldn't be the head honcho at ww, imo. Just because you beat "the man" doesn't always mean you take his place.

Since Berto actually had the balls to make the fight with another champion-the top WW champion, yes he would be. My knee-jerk reaction to this fight was originally that Shane would crush him. But I'm coming around to maybe the worst thing a 38-year-old can do is fight a speedy kid. Shane's always been fast but the time may have come where he's no longer elite in that regard. Berto won't get much credit if Shane looks awful and old but I don't think he will. I think Shane will be in good shape. If he does and Berto gets a good, clean decision, yes. He'll be top dog.
