there are some boxing writers who exclude fighters from the list if they are inactive for a year. Now that the epic third showdown of two gallant mexican superbantams is nearing it's first anniversary and they have not fought since then, Would you scrap those two in your p4p list come March 1.

there is no definite date nor opponent of the next fight of the two..

if they dont have a fight scheduled by then, than they should be dropped.

They'll be out of my list. Over a year without fighting in my book constitutes 'retired until proven otherwise'.

I chose no but, on reflection, i should have put yes. They would still be in my top 10, just lower

Those boys could still be inactive next march and they'd be in my ten. Anyone dropping them needs to think - those boys gave us our own Ali/Frazier, Moore/Charles, whatever, one of the greatest trilogies in boxing history, my pick for the best. No official retirement, they're still on my list. They're boxing gods. Look what they gave to teh sport.

Moving them down seems to me more illogical than leaving them out.

I''ll certainly think about it.Champions are stripped if they have one year layoff, the same with the p4p rankings IMO.They probably won't be on mine anymore.

    I like Montero's answer:

If they had been innactive for no apparent reason other than politics and/or laziness, than yes they should certainly be taken off. If they had been hand-icking opponents and taking the easy route before their "break" than again yes they should be excluded...

But in this case they were fighting the best time and time again and fought three HELLISH fights within a year -there NEEDS to be a rest to ensure they even have a career after they took so much in that trilogy. The deserve it...

That being said, if there's no activity in 18 months they need to be dropped off. A year is one thing, but a year and a half is my perrsonal limit - if you haven't even had a "tune up" in 18 months you're semi-retired at that point IMO.
