when they were at the same weight, Tszyu;s team, against his will, set him up against Hatton (for a career high payday) and Tszyu quit. Tszyu initially wanted Mayweather and vice versa. Then Mayweather tried to fight Hatton and Hatton said he wasnt ready. Then he tried to fight Cotto and his team said he wasnt ready.

So, he went and won the undisputed welterweight championship and then beat de la hoya.

To be fair, the majority of Australian fans were most complimentary of Hatton when he defeated Kostya. I know most Australians will be supporting Ricky against Mayweather.

Boxing is a sport where we can actually stand Poms - there aren't so many whinging toffs in British boxing!... tends to be a bit low brow for them

again Ali is argubaly in hindsight yes but he was doing it wayyyyy before his career was even over...right after he won the tittle in fact....this is all that Floyd is doing.....i do agree he goes overboard but i think he likes to tick people off but if you listen to him in some interviews he actually is a student of boxing.

There are people who did/do see Ali as a loud mouth and arrogant, make no mistake about that. There are premium boxers of the past who could also lay claim to be "the greatest". It is by no means conclusive that Ali was, but thats a totally different argument, lets not start that here.

Ali`s retorts were more often than not humorous and sometimes silly in nature. The style in which they were delivered meant they were generally non offencive and throw away.
Mayweathers comments on the other hand are just abrasive, inflammatory, snooty and downright deluded.

Ali was the heavyweight champion of the world and a universally known face all over it. Mayweather is all but unknown to anybody outside the boxing fraternity. An unknown with a mouth the size of.....Hattons fist hopefully :yep

I think that either Floyd or Ricky's performances have to be compared with Shane's and Miguel's and that correct assumptions should be taken from there. If Ricky Hatton loses by wide UD, then he's not only miles away from Floyd but several others from Miguel and Shane...However if he wins ( no matter how), he's above the three altogether. I also feel that true and unbiased points should be made from which was the most entertaining match.

How anyone can talk about arrogance and put Hatton and PBF in the same conversation is beyond me. PBF is so over the top it is sickening. He can talk about how popular he thinks he is all he wants. The fact remains, that his own country hates him too, save for a few sack swingers that make up the outspoken minority. He sells tickets because we are there in hope that he will lose, not to share in his victory. I would rather take a 15 hour flight to England to support Hatton than to make the 4 hour drive to Vegas to see Floyd dance around like a fool. Hatton has fans and friends because Hatton treats people like they are people. Floyd has an entourage because he flashes the cash. Floyd is hated not because people are jealous, he is hated because he acts like an insufferable cocksucker, which is unfortunate because it is so easy to get behind someone who does so well. He just makes it impossible.
