Come up with a gameplan for Froch vs Ward

I think he's going to stand and wait with his hands down and counter from the waist. He said he doesn't respect Ward as a puncher.

 

I think Carl Froch will be beaten by a good slick black fighter "who's athletically gifted", movement, fast hands, good straight punches........that come straight down the pipe.

But I'm not sure weather Andre Ward is better than Dirrell!

If you wanna try and out box Carl Froch, you better be moving, and sticking for 3mins of every round. Or Carl Froch will find a way.....

If you wanna stand toe to toe with Carl Froch, and try and break him down physically. You better maintain that intensity for 3min of every round. Otherwise he wll break you down....

People need to understand, that Carl Froch. May not be the most talented guy in the world, physically or technically. But i really do think, he has afew issue's mentally, The Cobra.........The Cobra is a sick man.

Black Fighters like Jermaine Taylor and Jean Pascal lack the slickness.

 

He can't try that approach, he'll lose a wide decision. Ward is too quick, he'll get in, land one-two, then tie him up. Out-boxing this guy with counters isn't an option as Froch just isn't fast enough.

Yeah he should try the odd counter upper-cut, but he needs to boss the fight with his jab, constant jab. Froch has the reach, he needs to keep Ward thinking, don't let him set up his offense. That jab of his can be a real weapon when he uses it right.

 

I think his best approach is to really draw Ward into a fight and see what hes made of, hoping his head dosnt get involved and keeping a high work rate.

I think if he boxes of the backfoot he'll get dom inated, Wards too quick and will just pick his shots in what will be a boring fight. Frochs full of grit and should take ward into the trenches

 

Take it to the trenches. I believe froch has a great chin, but it's the punches you don't see that hurt most. And if ward can catch him with shots he doesn't see he can hurt froch despite not being renowned as a big puncher.

If froch can make it a rough and tough fight and less of a boxing match, I think he increases his chances. On pure boxing I would say froch is easy to hit and less skilled, Dirrell style was wrong for froch and a more positive Dirrell would have beat froch in Nottingham.

Ward will probably see that fight as his way to beat froch, hit froch with a few fast flurries then get out of range, use good movement etc.

Froch needs to take the fight in close n his chest, he may need to take a few shots to land his more hurtful punches. I think that's frochs best chance.

 

Anyone else not see what the others see? He looked **** against Bika and got tagged alot, Abraham wasn't doing bad in the first rounds, Kessler was victim to his ****ing disgusting tactics, he's not that good man. Personally, I think Froch has faced better opponents. All the guy does is use his big ****ing head and elbows, he's a dirty ****. I hate everything about Andre Ward. If you were to make a fighter that would make my blood boil the most, he's the one, minus Floyd Mayweather's ego, but all in due time.

 

It's hard to say, I don't think I'm alone in thinking he can't beat Ward by using boxing skill alone. Add to this Ward will get any close decision if the fight is in the US (which I assume it has to be seeing as the semis were) so I think Frochs only option is to win by KO or a clear schooling UD, I just don't think he can achieve the latter.

I would tell Froch to stick close to Ward for the first 6 but just trying to get Ward to throw and miss. When he threw I'd have him working almost exclusively to the body, I imagine he would get hit a lot and his granite chin would probably be tested again (although with his defence it always does anyway). After the sixth round I'd get Froch to up his work rate and hope Ward breaks under the pressure and is stopped with an accumulation of shots. However I'm sure Froch will have a better plan than me, the man always finds a way to make a fight competitive. Really wish we could have seen him vs Joe Calzaghe, it looks to me like Joe would spank him but it'd be interesting to see Froch's tactics.

 

Refuse to fight in Oakland, I think the ref & judges will have a big input on the result

 

Maybe this is wishful thinking but I haven't been that impressed by what I've seen of Ward. Maybe Ward can be Froch's Lacy? I also think Carl has improved a lot since that Kessler fight, and isn't so likely to throw away a fight on lack of activity again. If the Cobra can make SOG work hard for every minute of every round I believe he can win the super 6

I've not really seen enough of Ward to comment but Froch (Abraham fight aside) seems to give away too many rounds for my liking, he gets hit too much. It seems a ridiculous thing to say considering his record but he came unstuck against Kessler in a fight he could have won, he has the tools!

I have no idea if he can pin Ward down but I'd loe to see him go hell for leather once he has felt Ward's lack of power. Walk though the shots and land some proper power blows.

 

Be negative on the backfoot, flicking out his jab and clinching for dear life whenever Ward closes the distance, which will be often IMO.

Winning ugly or 'sneaking' a decision will be Frochys only hope, because everything in his arsenal looks to pose little threat to Ward, sadly.

 

That would be awesome. If Froch starts landing bombs the excitement here will go through the roof

Of course, if Froch wins the super 6 people here will start hating him- such is the nature of fickle boxing fans
