Add Elieser Castillo (36), the cuban southpaw to that list. Scheduled to fight Fres Oquendo (who just fails to make the list at 34) next month. He's been pretty much inactive, with just a handful of fights in the last few years.
7years back there was a belt called the legends of boxing title which mike weaver and larry holmes fought over(well not fought over just happend to make a fight) anyways that would be a good belt for comback fighters it allows them to achieve somthing and still have the abilty to fight for a world title
Although I don't see how can you tag fighters who are only 34 to 37, Seniors? That is not at all old for a heavyweight, these days. Some heavies only hit their best years when in their mid 30s. But anyway, great thread. And good work.
Good work on your list:good Its like a shot but Name fighter wish list for the upcoming HW prospect. Sad for Boxing and the HW division that many on there are STILL HANGING ON. For the love of life??? Tubbs vs Wilson has a combined AGE of 100??? Anyone think a SENIOR SHOT division Belt would sell???WBC Senior Champion to go a long with the INternational Belts now posessed by Hatton, and Pacquiao??? Bowe vs Holyfield :scaredas: :scaredas: :scaredas: or Bowe vs Golota 3???:yikes :yikes :yikes ??? It might still sell, though I'd fear for whatever Riddick has left in the number of BRAIN CELLS. I dont C anyone on that list, a threat to the top 4 or 5 HW's out ther.
About Castillo...I was going to stick to the guys that have actually achieved some name value as a heavyweight (even Marion Wilson has that draw with Mercer). Kinda similar with Audley, although he did beat Danny Williams I guess. Thing is, then I might as well include people like Matt Skelton who's 40 and technically is coming back from the loss to Williams (since he's only fought once since then). Hmm. It wasn't intended to be this complicated...
Okay, how about this... I'm gonna keep the list to guys that will be 35 or older this year, and were either champions, or fought for a HW championship (including Linear in Savarese's case). The only exception is Larry Donald...but hey...it's Larry Donald! There are older HW fighters out there still, but not with any name value so sadly unlikely to be making any waves on the division these days (no offense to the Marion Wilson or Eliseo Castillos of the world).
