You can't have this discussion without including Ricardo"Pajarito" Moreno. In 60 wins, 59 by ko, and most of them within 4 rounds.

    I'd add in Choynski too.

Is that meant as a joke? He literally wrote the book on Maher.

TBH it's basically impossible to tell, how destructive did GGG look, until he fought Canelo. So often people lose their ability to KO people as they step up in class, I'd tend to assume it's roughly the same, varying with depth of competition, but it's impossible to say how the best punchers and chins of one era and division compare to another.

Not to sound arrogant, but I always knew GGG never had legitimate power. His knockouts we're never impressive, and he seemed to be more of a pressure and overwhelm type of fighter, though he failed to do that against Canelo.

To everyone saying Choynski, James J Jeffries fought both Choynski and Fitzsimmons, and said Fitz was the hardest puncher he ever fought. It cannot be Choynski

His perceived power may have gotten a reality check in the Canelo fights, but his chin rose in my estimation as well.

Surely we can not gauge thier power based on 1 opponent. Further he may not have been caught by one as good as the other. Sample size = to small = inconclusive

He fought 20 rounds with Choynski, to a tie. I'm sure Choynski hit him enough. This isn't a scientific test, I just trust the words of Jeffries. I kept out many fighters due to quotes. I kept out George Foreman due to quotes of Shavers hitting harder. I kept out Tommy Morrison due to quotes of Ron Lyle hitting harder.

I kind of get what you're saying though, Rocky Marciano's quotes are inconsistent as hell, Walcott, sparring partners, lesser opponents and Joe Louis seemed to think he had absolute power. Ezzard Charles didn't seem impressed by it. Moore quoted Marciano as "far and away the strongest man ive encountered in my years" when asked who'd win between Marciano and Frazier, but then took it back and quoted Marciano as the 4th hardest puncher he ever fought (might I add that his list is one that I've set out to prove wrong)

A lot who fought both said Choynski hit harder. I think Fitz probably hit harder, but Choynski is a reasonable pick.

Really??? I need to look that up at some point

Just to compare records, 57 wins with 39 knockouts isn't as impressive as 61 wins with 57 knockouts, so I'm inclined to go with Jeffries on this

Being a good KO artist isn't always the same thing as power. There are some complexities like length of the fights, so I don't put that much on KO percents.

That's why I compared wins only. If you won a fight, you must've landed solid punches (this is a little bit of a stretch bear with me), so how can you beat a man enough to win, yet not knock him out? You can count grazing punches that get counted but don't do much, but really, how many Archie Moore-esk defensive geniuses did Choynski fight?

Another thing to look at is record. You notice that there are bums that Marciano didn't knock out, but then you realize that they have chins of granite by having a million losses but no or a few KO's, usually injury stoppage
